The reason you need to compare it to the Goodwe, is because that i also a hybrid. That is apples for apples.

And then you need to compare it to the 4.6 ES specifically, otherwise backup on the Goodwe is very weak. Goodwe's also can't parallel and they can't transfer more than 20 Amps (as far as I am aware) and you have none of the flexibility when it comes to the MPPTs.

We'll ignore the little issue of Goodwe's and floating neutrals...

I've got no experience with the Goodwe software though.

So all in all, roughly 20% for more for the Victron doesn't seem disproportionately more expensive.

Right... but there is something we need to mention here: If I recall correctly, @Ajdebeer132 mentioned really really long outages, so he will be running off-grid more than half the time...

So one could argue that any hybrid is overkill for the use case. Old Chris Hobson (who is rarely around these days) ran his Axpert off-grid for many years without issues... he used to say the important thing is just to not work it to max capacity.

So while it may seem that I am now arguing against my own case... I thought that should be said too 🙂

I have no idee which one it is it is what jaco quote me and told me wifi will work with it cause i dont want to run a cat5 cable to the garage

I'd get a Growatt and be done with it. 5 year warranty is pretty good, even if it breaks after that you could buy a whole new one and still be below the price of the Victron system.

Ì do get that with a 5year warrenty you are set but how good is that warrenty and that is not the only problem i spoke today with dc rebel i saw on the group dan there knows alot of growatt. They are the importers and he even said stay away their stuff was good but not anymore you get alot off error and struggle alot with them. Will it work? I think so but you going to struggle alot and to get the batterys to communicate with the growatt is a pain in the .... acourding to what i read. I understand they are cheaper but the thing i want is something that will last 1st main priority then something that i can plug all the stuff in and just know it will work withough problems. The last thing is support will you still get the spares for growatt in 5 years how many people are out there that can really help you acourding to what i saw now not alot on the growatt. With the victrol there are loads of support and few people that struggles with it thats the reason why i wont go growatt. Im sad to go with the pylon and not dyness power box cause its alot more pretty but i want to stick with the stuff i know will work without a problem that is the big thing for me.

Someone can correct me if im wrong here but after all the people i cann and videos i watch and stuff i read. I came to this conclusion.

You can do a whole house off grid for 50k but you must know its going to last you if your lucky 2 years the n you need to rebuy and your efficiency is going to be bad.

Or

You can put away 60k - 70k just for an inverter and batterys and add even more stuff later but you know it will last you 7 to 10 years and if something breaks you will get spares and help

So its up to you to decide which is the better system to buy.

There is a lot of support for Victron, exactly. That is largely why I ended up going with it. I know someone with an Axpert and someone with a Goodwe and they are both very happy. However, when I was struggling with my Growatt, I couldn't get an answer from anywhere. No one seemed to know how to fix any issues and everything looked to be a guessing game.

There is so much documentation and support available for Victron. I was at ease from the get go. Everything worked like it was supposed to.

@Ajdebeer132 can't you still go with the Dyness power box (if you really wanted to)? I understand that @plonkster mentioned earlier in the thread that Victron and Dyness are compatible?

Not officially. Let me explain. At R & D headquarters there's a bench of battery systems, one for each supported system. Those are definitely supported. Pylontech is in this group.

Then there are batteries that don't have a test bench, but they are properly supported by their manufacturers and  we know who to email about an issue. That would include the two well-known South African brands 🙂

Then there are brands that we know work well, but they are not in either of the above two groups. Dyness is in this group.

Finally, there are DIY banks, or third party BMS setups. Here it varies, eg REC is very well supported, Orion is well supported (thanks to FreedomWon), but you're kinda on your own... 🙂

I was going to ask whether this now means that axpert et al will play the role of wicked witch of the east... i was going to add winkey smileys and all but seeing how this thread is teetering on the brink of a riot i though it better not to...

Rpi has no CAN-bus port, so a bit of a bummer if you want to monitor them Pylontechs.

Then there's that of course ... facepalm

Typical of the victron crowd... probably want to run CAT6... 😉

looking at the various threads compaitibility with Dyness is not a gaurantee of compatibility with the various different models of Dyness. BMS's (bmses? bmss?) will likely differ and I would think the power box will differ from the B4874 in this regard. Maybe is just cosmetic?

Ah great! Just make sure you've got sufficient breakers and cables on the Victron's AC-In. It has the ability to transfer 50Amps, and might try to pull it when charging batteries, so if you have 20Amp breakers & 2.5mm cables, you would have to limit the charging amps. I only have 6mm cables so was only able to go to 40Amps. Jaco should be able to give you some pretty solid pointers on the specs around the installation (not sure about your level of knowledge, mine is literally parroting what I've heard).

I got the 3kva so can only handle 35a unfortunately

I posted something in the dyness vs pylon thread about the warranties. The manufacturer is one side to it. I do wonder whether distributors/retailers do not perhaps have a role to play to make the warranty terms a bit more clear as opposed to just "Warranty: 10 Years".... the pylontech warranty exclusions for instance list as an exclusion:

"5.  storage, installation, commissioning, modification or repair of the Product that has been performed by a person other than Pylontech or a Pylontech’s certified installer".

This would suggest anyone who bought a pylontech through their friendly online retailer and hooked up their batteries one afternoon after work could have a voided warranty...

Yep ... doubt any pylontech certified installers can be easily found
