Can I add Color Control GX to a system with a venusGX

Featured Replies

Hi all

So I got a VenusGX as the brains of my system, located in the garage. Thinking, can I add a Color Control GX in the kitchen, as a display, or what other option do I have,

ie not keen on a Raspberry pi with a LCD. Rather go Victron build.

I have added an old cellphone as my display in the kitchen with remote display from the GX.  Cheapest option I think, and does exactly the same thing!  An old tablet would be bigger ;)

You can only have one GX device. If you just want a display use a tablet or a phone or any device with a display that can connect to an URL on your Wifi/network. Old phone like @Mark suggest is a good option.

See this VictronConnect informational video. Notice how you can click "remote console" and it will show equivalent display to CCGX, on your phone.

On my EasySolar-II GX, I've connected to its wifi network from laptop, gone to http://venus.local in browser, and opened that same CCGX-style view by pressing "pages" at the bottom of the remote menu.

So there really are a few ways to make it happen!

... guys, I know what my phone can do, thinking, I got a old iPad, might have to get a dedicated power supply for that, print a bracket and fit that against the cupboard and point it at the management url.

was going Victron had a remote screen "add on" by now for the VenusGX.

thing with the iPad idea is you open the URL and then go remote console, which open a smaller "Remote Console" view onto the larger screen,

Trying to get/show the screen as attached, as a information centre for the wife,

You can make the web page display full screen on the iPad.
Open the website using Safari and click on the box with arrow icon and use the Add the Home Screen option. Click the new icon link from the home screen will open it up in full screen view.

Here is the full guide.

I know how to make a page full screennnnnnn.

Inside the page thats full screen, that view is part of the remote console view, which does not go full screen.

Ah. I see your issue.

Don't use the remote console option in VRM. Instead just use the IP of your GX device and log in. That is the url you want to use.
This Remote Console is live, and much faster that trying to do it over the VRM, and you can full screen that on your device. This is the view that the GX Display devices show you.

I you don't know the IP of your GX device, you can use the VictronConnect app on your phone, or in the VRM expand the Gateway device under Device List and the IP will be displayed under Remote on LAN. If using this VRM gateway, you can just click on that IP to browse to the device and bookmark it.
