My professor once told me "There is no such a thing as a dumm question". So here goes: This 10kW unit for sale, can it supply more power that a 5kW expert? I suspect it can only do 3.3 KW max per phase. That 1500 W less that the Expert. I have 3 phase, but would like to go beyond 5 kW (like 8 kW). perhaps the answer lies is splitting ones DB into three. One for phase 1 supply, one for phase two supply and one for direct Eskom loads. Emergency Gennie on the phase that one would lile to survive. Or is there a better plan.? I would like GTI in future.

More importantly, does AICC on R-Pi work with it? JDP or Manie, is this Inverter in your scope to add to AICC? Would be and option for me, if it is supported. I believe only the Infinisolar V is supported?

The splines of my 3ph 1hp motor went after around 4 years. Is this normal? Was using the pump 2 - 3 times a week.

I'm with TTT on this. Perhaps members have appetite for >305W panels as a groupbuy from GCS? Would GCS extend the current palet price to the bigger panels?. Damn, I'm tempted for 15 panels. 260W panels would be like coming 4th in the Olympics!

Wetkit, Afaik, that kind of setup is not possible, i think, with these standard solar controllers. They have quite good setup capabilities, e.g. To take it up to a high temp to kill off any bugs in the water. Legionares Decease or something they call it. The basis of its normal config and operation is based on differential temps. Maybe i need to go and study the manual, and there could even be such a setting.

Hi Frzon, I did a similar installation as what you have described above. Started off with a single 150 l geyser. Added 200 l geyser for extra capacity, for family of 4. Installed 2 x 12 tube panels, pumped with controller. Then added a 7.2 kW HP as backup. The trick is to set the temp at which the HP kicks in fairly low, else it will work too hard. My system is in 4 years. Problems so far: 1) the temp probe in the panel failed, so the pump didn't function. You have to cover the panels, else you will see temps >185 Deg C up there! Finding a replacement probe was not easy, but got it at the right price in the end. 2) Lightning took out the control box in the roof, so had to get a complete new controller system. at least I now have a spare LCD screen and whole set of probes!(4). My original installer didn't hand over those spares:-( 3) Installer disappeared when 1) happened. Fortunately, during all these niggling issues, the HP kept everything hot. Hi all, I'm following this tread. Having also just started dabbling with Arduino, but also have a soft sport for any Pi.

I have more or less same scenario: long distance to scullery from geyser. 22mm copper pipes. So I use a few 5l plastic bottles, stored underneath the sink. Then those 5l of cold water is used to water my potplants outside by hand. Everybody that draws hot water at the sink has standing instructions to fill the bottles! Bit of a schlepp, but is my short term solution.
