  1. Thanks
This may help someone, I found it useful.
On the Sunsynk portal : Select "equipment", "inverter", click the serial number of the inverter in question , select "custom" , then click "parameter", then tick "P-Grid", and right at the bottom tick "P-external-CT-L1".
This will give you a good overview and show you if your CT is upside down (remotely - yes I know this can be seen on the touch screen as well).
It will allow you to judge if your CT is reading consistent info, which is useful when the CT is far away and extended with CAT cable.
If its correctly installed it will give you a decent view of the non-essential loads throughout the day, even when there isnt sufficient solar PV to export to them.
You can see the first part of the graph, the CT was installed incorrectly, then corrected thereafter.

So in summary, on a normal day like today, with lots of sunshine:

    Some things to note:
Not sure what that 01h00 spike is. Need to figure that one out.  The 04h30 geyser boost took place, and pulled from the batteries because the grid was off. This is not ideal, a cooler shower is preferable imo, but there is no way for me to avoid this, unless I wake up at 04h30 to switch off the geyser. Batteries were fully charged by 10h30. The coffee machine morning spike came from the grid, because the batteries were <50% SOC at this time, so the inverter did not allow it to go lower.  The spikes you see above the geyser's 2kW draw include the dishwasher, washing machine and other things like kettles.  15h50 spike was the airfryer, lunch. On a less than nice day, where it's either raining the whole day or cloudy, things might look like this:

    Notes:
Geyser still comes on in it's given time slot (hot showers are important!), but now the inverter uses a blend of solar and grid to do that, because there is not enough PV do it alone. The inverter brings the battery up to 75% as per my settings, and uses grid in this time to power other loads. Once it's at 75% it stays there, and uses grid to power my loads, as I had a massive rain storm at this time and PV was uncerperforming. In the late afternoon, the sun came out, and topped my batteries up to 100%. We decide to cook something in the oven at 1730, and the batteries crashed back down to 75%, and the inverter held it there till 20h, using grid during this time.

So for the last 9 years or so I've had a simple 12v lighting system in the house with a 120ah battery running off a 12v 120watt panel in turn running 34 led lights. I've had zero failures of any of the equipment and the battery that I had lasted me a good 7 years. Success. The new install had to actually work around the small panel as I refused to move it or change anything attached to that system.
I decided to up it a bit, but knew that I was in over my head. So Alumo did the install yesterday.
12 x 470w panels, 8KW Sunsynk and 2x 5.5KV greenrich batteries. I'd added Cbi wifi timers on my geysers and have 1 geyser on the system (smaller one) and one on the grid.

I've been in a mad rush to finish painting the area where the panels were going to go as the roof hadn't seen any paint in the last 9 years. The final plan is to add more panels towards the back of the property as we have space for a good 10-12 more.

The set up has been installed in our laundry and I couldn't wish for a better layout. It sits right next to my existing system and that system got a few smiles from the installer who said....meh, it works and it works well. 🙂

All done and running beaut. Cleaned up the cabling on the batteries a bit and looks real neat now. Very happy.

I have seen that, but then after every load shedding the geyser will switch on.... (its on non essentials)

    1) I am not 100% sure but I think the schedules still work even if Wi-Fi connectivity falls away. I am not sure how load shedding may affect this.
    2) Unfortunately the unit will not switch on if it missed its trigger. You could schedule multiple times to switch on to compensate for this.

I like, pretty much the identical system that's coming my way next week. I'm also in Pretoria and I have to agree about the weather that we have here.

PS, I approve the colour coordinated cabling on the LHS....it's all about detail. 🙂
