  1. @Gerlach@PaBz0r Still interested in Shelly's? Looking to get few guys together to import some and save on shipping.... Let me know if interested.
  2. Count me in! Give me couple of days to research items I want....
  3. @jeeva Can you provide me pricing and lead time on Shelly EM please.
  4. Also @veerwal123 In PV Master App under Basic Setting the Work Mode should be General Mode. Then under Advanced Setting: Switch on SOC Protect and set Discharge depth to 20% or whatever % you want battery to discharge to when grid available to aid self-consumption during times when grid available - will only charge from solar. Set the next value down (can't remember setting name and not on PV Master docs I have access to at moment) to max discharge when grid not available, say 80%.
  5. Still confused.... I have a number installations running with GoodWe's and the purpose of the EZ Meter is to prevent feedback i.e. it senses imminent feedback to grid, communicates to the GoodWe and the system throttles back to prevent feedback. The result is maximum use of own solar without a) risking overload by having too much on backup and b) battery running flat because no one noticed power is down. No feedback, no new meter, no problem! If mains fail, system detects and disconnects from grid as per regulation and only supplies on backup. @Cef also relevant to your setup. Only problem in rare cases where municipal meter is very sensitive (only know of 2 models that does this) and trips out when feedback takes place for short period when system not fast enough in adjusting. Meter usually resets within few seconds depending on duration and severity of feedback.
  6. @MartinKoch Agree with C. Usually install the blue stuff and never with E/L feeding to AC-in - always on AC-out before loads and no problems with Electrical CoC or inverter related trips. If you have loads not on inverter AC-out that require E/L then you need 2nd E/L for those but wire AC-in to inverter from before E/L i.e. direct on Mains.
  7. I'm confused on why you took this route and not used Goodwe built-in grid export limiting using EZmeter packaged with inverter... Maybe I'm missing something.
  8. Don't complicate stuff too much - getting the sizing 100% right before you start is less important than it used to be if you select your equipment to be scale-able. Inverter/charger: Rarely seen a Victron 3kVA Multi not doing the job from a power delivery point of view for the basics i.e. lights, gates, security, entertainment, even the occasional biggie such as hair dryer, kettle or microwave. Make sure your inverter is a true hybrid (can mix power sources) and bi-directional (feed power to both ACin and ACout) - Victron and Goodwe are good quality examples. If Victron - can expand in future by adding another 3kVA in parallel or go for 5kVA from start. If GoodWe - go for 4.6ES since they can't parallel and you sort of stuck with what you start with (is however quite big and competent and good for most homes - can also operate in grid-tie mode i.e. don't need batteries from day 1. Batteries: W.r.t. batteries my opinion is to not even consider lead acid! - constrained in increasing of battery bank, easily killed, short life span, requires lots of space, plenty round trip losses, etc, etc, etc..... Pylontech offers good value LiFePo4 and is very scale-able. Revov offers even better value but less scale-able due to bigger chunks - 10kWh vs Pylontech's 2.4kWh. PV: Start with array of 8 x 330w Tier 1 Poly's and get some data on system performance before taking next step - you can always add. PS - use a competent installer that have good references! Good components is not the only ingredient for a good system...
  9. @Clive Interesting to see you sorted! This cropping up now more due to CoT changing TUMS smart meters to new Conlogs. What is process you followed to get meter changed and obtain tokens? In what metro you located?
  10. Gener-8 Pretoria East (email [email protected]) also does PylonTech but prefer to part with them as part of high quality Victron systems rather than DIY sales. Recently PTs been scarce as chicken molars so maybe that's why such poor response from suppliers....been easing up lately due to pre-election window dressing but suspect Prince of Darkness to frequent us again in the (very) near future prompting renewed run on stock! If you've been teetering on the edge of commitment, now might be a prudent time to take the plunge...
