  1. thanks @jacauc, that pointed me in the correct direction... My temp values are correct so I looked at the formula for them, I was on the correct track, you need to leave the first line as "/ 1" but change the other two lines to be "/ 10" in node Solar_PV1_Amps and Solar_PV2_Amps, then you get the values I expect to see...

Now that I am getting data from the inverter into InfluxDB viathe Node Red flows, thanks again to all, I just noticed that the PV1 and PV2 current seems to be "incorrect", unless I'm not understanding... As example, a few minutes ago the reading for PV1 power was 174W and PV1 volts was 232.7v and at that same data-point the PV1 current was stored as 7A. My understanding was that watts/volts=amps so 174/232.7=0.747A so seems to be needing to divide values received by 10 - or am I missing the plot here? I do see in the flows, the node named Solar_PV1_Amps has calculations that include "/ 1", so should that not maybe be "/ 10" ? Just tried that, edited the node and changed the "/ 1" to be "/ 10" but then I get 0.07A for those same values so clearly not as simple as I thought...
  3. I had the long (20m) USB cable for when I originally had a PC connected to the Infinisolar for monitoring etc with the PC sitting inside instead of in the garage with the inverter. I have tried the RS485 at the Sunsynk and using the long USB, and did get data, but have now pulled a CAT6 LAN cable, about 15m, which is connected to the Sunsynk BMS RS485 port then connected to the RS485-USB plugged into my NUC running HA. From what I read the spec on those RS485-USB adapters and they state that the RS485 side can run up to 1200m... Note that I have the cable in the BMS RS485 port on the 5k Sunsynk and not the port labelled just as RS485. I had originally tried the RS485 port but I get zero data from it...

  5. if you have a value in "ZeroExport Power", default is 20 on the 5kw, then at least that should be reading on the CT, mine is set at 60 and my CT is currently reading 57w (close enough for me)
  6. @GreenMan it looks like you do get CT values in Solarman Smart, looking at mine, see pic below - the red block, that's within the Power Grid section...
  7. @GreenMan from what I've learnt, if the CT is connected correctly and working then you get a little icon of the CT just up from the powerline icon - if you look at the pic of mine, that you showed, it's the icon between the powerline and the block that has 1300 watts in it. You can actually see the CT values in the screen with the 6 blocks, which you get to by tapping either the Battery or AC load dials from the home screen. If the CT value there is zero, and you're sure you're pulling power from the grid, then it may be that the CT is not being seen by the inverter. According the manual you are correct with points 5 & 6 on the 8kw for the CT.
  8. Just for interest and for any others that may be wanting to extend their CT coil cable... As part of checking the CT itself this evening I went back into the ceiling to check the cable there too as my CT is about 17m from the inverter. I had originally installed some CAT6 LAN cable for the extension but thought it wasn't working so bought some 0.5mm flex/panel wire and twisted some black and white together for the extension and installed that, which also gave no reading, until I switched on the grid feed to the inverter. This evening as a test I reconnected the CAT6 LAN cable, using one twisted pair, and also got CT readings so the CAT6 LAN cable does indeed work...
  9. yay, success... to all those that said, or even thought, the CT was incorrectly installed you were correct😳 I finally got a chance after work this evening to get into the main DB, what I call my dirty DB with "dirty" power from the council for the non-essential loads. When I removed the DB cover and reached for the CT it basically popped open with me barely touching it. I opened it fully and removed it form the live wire then put it back and this time made sure it clipped closed correctly, which was a challenge keeping the fingers away from the neutral bar, then double check it by tugging a little. When I went back to the inverter it was looking a whole lot better. The first pic below is with PV basically done for the day and I set the timers to only use the batteries later, so expecting the CT to be reading close enough to the load value, which it was. The second pics are then after setting the timer to use the batteries and the reading are good again. Thank you to all for all the help and apologies for the trouble and confusion...
  10. firmware update done, thank you @Leshenit is now running MCU:3162 After it came back online after the update the CT still shows the low value (around 58W) even though the load was around 950W. I switched on my bench grinder again, on the non-essential load side, and managed to snap these two pics of the flow screen which shows the CT reading increase, although not really enough, but also shows the feed to the house and the battery providing power. When I turned off the bench grinder it wall went back to "my normal"... I have made the changes suggested by @Nexuss, I'll watch the PV and charge tomorrow.

  12. yep, that's me, but don't have a bi-directional meter but do want to feed to the house when excess PV available. I've just changed my system mode settings to the suggestion by @YellowTapemeasure a few posts back

I'll see if I can move the CT to before the main isolator and earth leakage, the main DB is very old and not much space to do much... regarding the firmware, my inverter is running "COMM:e416 - MCU:2155", have no idea how that relates to any current versions as I can't find version info on the Sunsynk.org site. I have submitted a request to Sunsynk for a version upgrade but have not hear from them yet.
  15. okay, so the sun is down and PV is zero, battery is not supplying (expected it to be but it's not). there are two sets of pics below, flow chart and the 6-grid info. The set with the red 02 at the top is what it's showing with probably nothing running in the house on the non-essential side and the set with the red 03 at the top is when I turned on my workbench lights and bench grinder (non-essential loads) and the CT does register more current...
  16. yeah, the CT is clamped around the live wire from the municipal meter, after the main isolator and the earth leakage but before any breakers in the main DB. I don't have much not on the inverter, mainly things like stove, kettle, toaster, dish washer, geyser and a few other things. I'm thinking of turning on the oven and then checking the readings as that should draw a reasonable amount...

  18. I set Zero Export Power to 100W based on what I've read on the forums (here and the Synsynk one). I have a pre-paid meter, haven't had it trip out yet but also don't want it charging me for any current that does happen to go go out, as I've heard most of these newer meters do, but I guess I could reduce that a little and see how it goes. But I'll probably play more with that once I've got the CT issue sorted, haven't had a chance to go ceiling crawling yet... For the battery charging, I had it at 35A as the Pylontech specs has 37A but I wasn't aware I could have that per battery, thought it was the recommended limit regardless of number of batteries connected together. I've upped that to 70A now, thanks. The grid charge I had low to potentially use less grid to charge the batteries, but that was a carry over from my Infini (which never really worked well anyway) so have also upped that too.

  21. yep, definitely twisted and the same direction, same interval is a little trickier to achieve over any length but it looked reasonably close, will go crawl into the ceiling again and check it all again though, thanks for the info.
  22. I agree the CT should be reading at least the load value when using grid power for the supply. What could in incorrect about the CT installation? It is clipped around the live cable between the council supply/meter and the dirty DB. The only non-standard I can think of the that my CT is extended about 17m from the inverter to get to that DB. It is getting a positive value reading which implies it is the correct way round on the cable at least... It does not run next to any AC cable except at one point where it crosses an AC cable. The CT cable does run along the roof trusses, next to a PV cable though, but I believe it's only AC cables that are a potential issue.
