In my opinion, there are discrepancies in Youtube videos from Sunsynk as well as their newest Installer Manual explaining this function.
I have a 150 litre geyser connected to mine and it operates as follows :
1) The solar power setting has nothing to do with the max power output - which is how they explain it. It is purely the PV power limit at which the relay will close and power the aux load Or open to disconnect, if it falls below the setting for a certain duration. It does not limit the power output.
2) If you have grid available and the total load - normal loads + Smart load - exceeds the PV available, it draws the balance from the grid and not from the battery.
3) If grid is not available it draws the balance from the battery - Starting when battery reaches the "Aux load ON Batt" setting which is 100 % in my case.
It switches off when the battery reaches " Aux load OFF Batt" - 95% for me.
It will not come on again - even if PV surpases the Power setting (4000w for me) until the battery reaches the ON Batt setting again.
4) On grid always on will always supply power to the Smart load output, when the box is ticked and grid available.
This can only be useful if manually enabled, after a rainy day, to "top up" your geyser.

I agree it works perfectly for my geyser operation as well.

Brickman got a reaction from iiznh in Leoch and Shoto Parallel InstallationHi @Geda, I am wondering why you decided to add a Shoto instead of another Leoch.
I see a few problems here :
1) The Leoch is a 15s - 48 volt Nominal battery whereas the Shoto is 16s - 51.2 volt Nominal. They require different charge voltages and voltage at 100% SOC in one would not be the same in the other.
2) Two different brands would not necessarily communicate. In fact it is unlikely, unless you have some information stating that these two will.
3) Just because the one is set as Master ( for its particular model) and the one as Slave ( for its model) does not mean they will act accordingly.
My opinion would be that these two are not compatible.
For reference I have three Hubble X-100's and two Leoch LFeLi 48100TB's connected in one bank.
The difference being they are both 15s - 48v Nominal batteries and as far as I could establish are materially identical.
Even so, they use different protocols and do not communicate.
I think the lack of industry standards in the protocols batteries use to communicate with Inverters - and probably with other batteries - is a big problem in the solar industry.

Brickman got a reaction from 87 Dream in Eskom Connection downgrade to save costThe only reason keeping me from putting the Grid Tie on the Sunsynk output is that one is single phase and the other 3 phase. I have lots of faith in the Sunsynks and would prefer to stick with them. Now should I go for the 12kw - 3 phase OR add two extra 8kw's ? Funding is not unlimited.
3 x 8kw Sunsynks will have more capacity, but costs probably 50% more than one 12kw 3 phase. Also unable to do it in stages. Can't add one and another later due to the three phase setup.
The Diehl and Ground array are at the back of my garage - about 30 metres from the Sunsynk & Batteries in my house. Between my garage and house is a sub DB - on the pole where the Eskom feed for my house comes in from our Main supply meter - which is another 100metres further. The Diehl feeds in 3 phase at this DB and my Sunsynk takes Single phase from here. The Sunsynk CT is also located here so I can "export" to non essentials on the same phase. I am not currently limiting export, so the Sunsynk and Diehl both backfeed the other two houses on the property - when Grid is on.
Maybe I should consider the following option as a first step : Replace the Diehl with another 8kw Sunsynk. Run it Grid Tied and feed into the essential load output of the existing Sunsynk and 24kwh Battery pack - both on the same Phase. Later add another 8kw, move everything to the garage and then configure as 3 phase supply off the same Battery pack.
Hope I'm not blabbing.......just trying to give as much info as possible for everyone to "picture" my setup.
