  1. Victron owners... using this MQTT stream, which simulator did you use. I initially read the options and went with i, but after digging around and always only getting a serial number back, i stopped it and tried one of the other simulation and guess bl00dy what... there is data coming at me now, and not JUST that serial number. so making progress making sure the bits fit together. I like to follow a "test driven development" methodology... make sure my data I am using to def is valid (and for negative testing), G
  2. some thinking, to be confirmed today with installer and pictures of his back panel and BOM... multiple ( panel arrays -> isolator -> fuse -> quick disconnect -> bus bar A (this order of of components was requested by sparky) ) bus bar A -> isolator ->MPPT (this isolator was already requested by my sparky) MPPT -> bus bar B Battery/s -> bus bar B Inverter Input -> bus bar B (instead of connecting the MPPT and battery directly to the terminal lugs on the inverter they basically all meet/cleaner on bus bar B.) with the Pylontech I have the on/off switch so that can be used to disconnect the battery, I can additionally if I want to "total safety just pull that plug in positive lead out of the battery pos terminal "once switched off" but instead was thinking, good idea to place a fuse on the battery -> bus bar B line, and for total safety (instead of opening the battery cage and flipping switches on the battery) put a duel pole isolator between battery and fuse (means i can also isolate the fuse should i need to work on it (will require switching the isolator between bus bar A and MPPT also off, otherwise i have a new hair do...) G
  3. and same brain cells chatted bout this one also. thinking is the dbus is a module they use for their interface between the data bus and the mosquitto server to publish messages, the test script i found is their test script and not relevant for me to test from outside, all I want to do is use python and subscribe to the mosquitto mqtt subjects. I've gotten mqtt.app to subscribe and issue a wile card # and got the serial number returned as a JSON message so external port subscription works. G
  4. ... not to worry, give the 2 brain cells some switch off time to just sit and chat between themselves and eventually things start clicking. so ye I went into the container and happily found mosquitto_sub and _pub. when I issue a _pub I only got back: root@902ae0f1054c:~# mosquitto_sub -v -h 127.0.0.1 -t '#' N/0242ac110003/system/0/Serial {"value": "0242ac110003"} and it now waits... for me to publish more to this subject... PS thats all it came back with. how can I see what other subjects there are. G
  5. no problem...I also suffer, thanks for the spelling correction. G
  6. my installer basically got a completed back plate with everything on it... My sparky did ask for a isolator (80-100Amp) after the buzz bar, before the MPPT. Will speak to both, was also thinking the voltages etc calls for something between the battery and Buzz bar / or Terminal lugs if directly connected. Just need to find out if the installers design already got something in place, included G
  7. if you don't come let me know, can pm you his contact details. G
  8. will speak to my installer and sparky tomorrow, got a price on exactly that same unit. G
  9. ... found a /Users/george/Downloads/venus-docker/dbus-mqtt/test, figured i'll try that to unblock the pipe, well this got more interesting... module missing "dbus" and I can't see to get it installed. Brew install dbus completed pip install dbus-python failing. G
  10. well that did not work... which mosquitto_sub and locate mosquitto_sub returned nothing. G
  11. ... Was just an idea I though might be of value for everyone. People are at times to "careful' "don't want to offend" the person should he be here/see the thread when asked what people think of XY?Z or what was your experience. Deep, once we have a person here, keep him here, don't have him click out for information, you loose ownership of that person, marketing/advertising revenue. G
  12. ... busy installing Mosuitto... guessing it will be part of that distribution. G
  13. stupid question... sorry where is mosquito_sub? G
  14. ye well don't think we will list the DIY's... But def the fly by nights. G
  15. Hi guys So for those using Pylontech, supplied cables to connect the Pylontech battery to the inverter is 25m2's... So connection options are, connect battery/MPPT directly to Terminal lugs on Inverter or connect Battery/MPPT and Inverter to a Buzz bar... ok this is not the question though. Between my panel combiner box and the MPPT my sparky asked that we install a dual pole isolator, now ... the question... hehehe are you connecting the batteries directly to the Inverter or Buzz bar, or are you installing a inline fuze and quick disconnect ? G
  16. At the moment it is not really about best place, it is about anyone willing to actually talk to you, that want to raise a finger to have you give them money, at the moment, easy answer, speak to Silver, ... just leave my PylonTech batteries alone please... they mineeeeeeeeee. G
  17. ditto... from having to lick peoples asses to just get them to acknowledge you asking if they have stock, what fits together to a earlier question by me, where/who... he DM'd me saying he can help, asked for my number, phoned me, friendly conversation, provided a quote pretty quick after discussion and I've EFT'd the funds. Now just to wait for the stock... 11 out 10 for the man. G
  18. want to see the first Tesla's hitting SA... Where your Toyota's was always stolen because their parts nicely fitted into Hi-Ace taxi's you will get Tesla's stollen to be installed as home batteries... G
  19. Att admin. Any chance we can get maybe 2 threads created... pinned. Then we can add the different shops and different installers and rate them. anyone can then go and see who is listed, and add a rating based on experience as in helpful, responsive, quality of work, price, G
  20. use to be known as "gremlin" many years ago as a nick name G
  21. as one of my friends chirped... they did not even bother to paint them black... G
  22. Hi all Does anyone know who the Pylontech resellers are in the eastern cape region? Not keen on buy-ing in Jhb and then having to pay shipment to JBay. G
  23. got it running, initiated simulation i. now to try and connect to it via port 1883, i can get the web app view on 8080. G
  24. tsk tsk tsk, def one hell of a better os than a MS *... hehehe G
  25. Working... Thanks guys. now to get some code to interface with this mosquito server and see how to retrieve and publish messages and what format they are in (here is praying for simply JSON) is there a reference some where ? or example code/python G
