Sunsynk spikes on Grid and Temp graphs
Good day everyone, A friend of mine is having some spikes on his 5kW Sunsynk graphs. He was concerned about the backfeed (CT coil) spikes of up to 900w, but it is also noted on the DC temp graphs which is a conern as temperature cannot spike like that. As you can see it is when loads switch on and off. What could be the cause or is anyone else also experiencing it?

Wiring Regulations SANS COC question
May be a stupid question. Is the AC grid charging not on the input to inverter and the load on the essential output. Thus 2 different cables? Yes, two different cables, but the supply cable to the inverter must carry both the charging current for batteries and the load current as the load will be supplied from the grid while charging. You can set the grid charging current though.

Deye in Off-grid mode
Is it possible to have the Deye (8kw) inverter running in off-grid mode, but still with grid connected? I know it is a Hybrid inverter, but I see on the graphs that it "follows" the grid supply and that voltage varies quite a lot. I would like to have it operate it like an Axpert type of inverter and only "switch" to grid once it is needed. Any setting that I missed that could have it operate in that way?

Wiring Regulations SANS COC question
Just remember that the supply to the inverter will be more than 5kw when the batteries are charged from the grid. (supply amps to Inverter = Load amps + battery charging) I also have 6mm is 38A for installation in trunking, but have volt drop of the 6mm @ 4.63% over 60 meters.

Sunsynk /Dye Inverter Neutral/Earth Bonding
Am I reading this correctly? So if the inverter is installed in the garage (remotely), there must be a relay (switch) to disconnect the earth neutral point of the inverter?

I had a look at how the system responded by changing the various settings. Agree / makes sense Agree / makes sense Agree / makes sense This setting is conflicting to what I want to achieve. I don't want it to use grid when not on 100%. I want to set it to say 50% and only when it goes below 50% it must use grid. HOWEVER, when the battery is full at 100%, it must utilize solar for non-essentials. Agree / makes sense. But then it must also not use battery for non-essentials, although I have the setting on 50%. ( it uses battery down to the 50% setting) The next thing I'll try is to untick "Time of use" and see what it does. Why cant it just use Grid for non-essentials and if there is "excess" solar, offset the Grid amount with that? Nothing else, just that.

Thank you very much Greenfields. It makes 100% sense what you suggests. Now the question is: if I untick Grid during the day period and there is no solar (rainy), the batteries will not charge from Grid. I will do some more tests tomorrow.

I have Time-of-use activated, but set to 45%. The lowest I want batteries to go. If I set it to 100%, then the grid charges it to 100%, which I don't want. Sorry, I don't understand - What behaviour?

Hi Everyone, Trying to setup a Deye 8kW inverter, but somehow the settings are a bit confusing. What I have: 8kW Deye with a bout 4kw of PV panels. DB split in essentials (on output of inverter) and non-essentials (wired before inverter,fed from Eskom). The CT coil is installed on eskom line where it enters the property. So nothing funny or out of the ordinary. What I want to achieve is to have the excess PV feed to the non-essentials. If PV is not enough, it must add some Eskom power. I had it on "Zero export to CT" and untick "sell solar". Everything worked great, and non-essentials was using the excess PV, until there was some clouds and then the non-essentials was fed from the battery. I know I am missing some kind of setting somewhere. CT is installed correctly as per manual. Please help

Do Indicator Lights in the DB need to be protected by a circuit breaker?
It is true what you say, if there is a breaker supplying the indicator light and it is switched off, it could be mistakenly seen (or not seen) that there is no power. Experienced it at work where we had to add a circuit breaker to such an indicator light for the COC to be issued. The light must either be fused or protected by a circuit breaker the guy said. It is stupid, but that is how they say it must be.

Luxpower wifi port comms protocol
Hi everyone. I am looking at interfacing with a Luxpower SNA5000 inverter via the comms port where the wifi dongle connects. Does anyone have the pinouts / comms type / protocol? I am looking at interfacing it to an ESP32. I know there is a "Luxpower bridge" using a Raspberry Pi, but those Pi's are hard to get at the moment. Thanks Jacques

Deye - Remotely change paramters
As per Jaxone's reply: You need to have Pro access with the logger (I am installer)setup. If it is setup with the installer, they can set it up for you from their side. As I am registered on the pro app (installer), I just send Deye an email for remote access and they activated it on the Solarman Business app using the login credentials of the pro access. A bit confusing the whole process, but I now have access to all the settings, including "Time of use".

Inverter size
I have also made a diy load indicator: a simple unit with a yellow and green led and a small buzzer using an ESP8266 with UDP packets from my inverter controller. If my 5kw inverter's output is below 2500 watt, the green led is on. Above 2500 watt, the yellow led goes on (with the green off). It now indicates not to use the "big" loads such as kettle, toaster, iron, etc. If the load exceeds 4800 watts, the buzzer pulses and yellow led flashes. It now indicates that you must reduce the load or switch off what you just switched on. After 10 seconds, it switches over to grid if it is not reduced. Obviously it can not switch over to grid during loadshedding, but at least it gives a warning. I could add a small oled screen to indicate the power, but a simple led indication I feel is much better.

Sunsynk Feed-in power
Hi guys. Finally got to chaning the settings: Ticked zero export to CT and untick sell solar, but the grid power then went to something like 7.5kw. Switched it back before I could take a photo. I have a suspicious that the CT coil is wrong way round. When exporting to the grid, the CT value is a positive value. Is that correct? or must it be negative? Here is a screenshot taken today with the power definitely going back into the grid. Switching non-essentials on, the CT value goes down, but still positive. Don't want to stuff something up. (Can a wrong setting do something bad or will the Deye protect itself.) Anyone have a screenshot of this page to compare?

Mixing solar panels of different sizes
I would split it 6 / 6. You could actually get more solar as you say you only have full sun from 11am. If it is split and you have shading on only one string, it would not influence the other one.

Flickering Lights
It can by caused by an appliances that uses pwm in its control. It does it with my coffee machine and 3D printer. Only also on some lights. Have a look at what is running when your lights flicker and switch off until you find what is causing it. It is because the inverter is too slow to control the output voltage.

Deye wiring assistance needed
I would have the transfer switch's grid input (left in) to be fed directly from incoming main grid db (top of left mcb). That way when you switch off the incoming breaker to the inverter (to do maintenance or whatever), the transfer switch will still work.

Earth-Neutral bond and Questions
Either the inverter "drives" the E/N bond relay or it does it internally. If bonded permanently, and during bypass mode on the inverter, there develops a cable fault with the neutral interrupted, a fault current would flow through the E/N bond and through the earth conductor back to the supply transformer (and not back via the N conductor).

Inverter fed from main DB, not through an earth leakage. Output of inverter through an earth leakage. E/N bonding on output of inverter before earth leakage via an E/N bond relay if the inverter does not have such a function build in. Permanent E/N bond on output of inverter is not allowed as it would bond E/N of grid supply if inverter is in by-pass mode.

Sunsynk Feed-in power
Did some screenshots of my neighbours' Deye inverter settings. Is the settings correct to NOT export to grid, but only to the non-essentials? Sometimes it shows "buy" and sometimes "sell". Also CT coil value goes positive / negative. Deye 8kw, Shoto batteries, Some loads on inverter output, and others on eskom. CT installed at incoming eskom line as it enters house. Meter in street.

Victron Quattro relay noise and AC motors
Reviving an old post as I have a similar issue. @SlaaiblaarDid you solve the ticking sound/issue? Or have anyone else experienced the same? I have 3x 12kva Quattro's in a three phase configuration. Running a resistive load such as lights: no issues, even up to 36kva. Running a 7.5kw pump: having a ticking sound coming from all three inverters. They are ticking randomly. Ticking 5 or 6 times, quiet for a second and then ticking again. Sounds like a relay switching. It is an off-grid system with no grid or generator connected.

My neighbour recently installed a Sunsynk inverter and having a look at his app, there is something not making sense. He is using maximum PV power for the whole day and I see there is Feed-on power of 8.7kwh which I can't seem to see where it is going. He has not used anything on the non-essential side and all I can think of is that it is going back into the grid?

Automatic / Relay: Neutral Bonding?
So if L is shorted to E, the fault current will run to E and through the E/N bond to N on inverter? That seems logical. But if I have a RCD, any fault current flowing to E would trip it?
