  1. Thanks Cef Got it working by replacing the Historic.dbf file. My weather app is still working, in my opinion being able to see the next days weather would also be useful especially if rain is forecasted. I'm now getting error messages regarding the weather on 2 Jan 26, I've turned the weather off the weather option and it now works fine (I'm sorry to hear that you upgraded😂).
  2. hi @Cef Compliments of the season. Is there any reasons why this version of your software stopped working? It was still ok at 20h00 yesterday. I still use it daily.
  3. Hi Bobster, I've not been on the site for a while. I logged a fault on the Goodwe website on Sunday 18 th May and called them the next day. Sisanda from Goodwe help desk ran some remote checks and within a hour gave the following feedback. "the inverter appears to be physically disconnecting from the grid. We have reviewed the settings on our side, and everything is configured correctly. This type of issue may indicate a potential problem with the grid connection itself, such as fluctuations in voltage or frequency, poor wiring, or an unstable grid supply. It could also be caused by external factors like loose connections, faulty breakers, or grid protection triggering due to irregularities. We recommend checking the physical wiring, grid stability, and any external protection devices to ensure they are operating as expected." Only logging a faults normally takes longer than a day to get feedback.
  4. Hi Bobster I'm very impressed with your diagnosis. Thank you. The Electrician left a few minutes ago, the neutral wire in the main DB somehow "worked" itself loose and after tightening all connections all is well. Goodwe support made a similar suggestion. I learnt a couple of things One should at least once a year have an electrician check your systems and DB's The house only used 40% of the 14.2kWh battery capacity overnight from around 16h00 to 07h00 If there is enough sun batteries are fully charged by 13h00.
  5. Thanks Bobster I made a screenprint of SOLARGO, it looks like the ES is not seeing the grid at all, the Alarm field is blank. Logged a problem on the Goodwe site
  6. Hi Bobster Its in general mode. It started at 7:34 on Saturday morning and still going, I cant find any messages in Solargo about but grid voltage & frequency. There are settings to protect the inverter. Upper voltage 269v, Lower voltage 171, Upper frequency 52.45Hz, lower frequency 47.55Hz. In Advanced settings Power limit value = On, Power Limit value set at 6000. On home page Meter/CT status Not detected. Backup ON, Power limit ON
  7. My 5+ year old inverter suddenly does not "see" the grid, I did not change any settings, although did try to look via SOLARGO if I there were any settings that could have caused the problem, turned export limit on and off, think its turned back on, the oven on non-essential also does not work. If I turn off the inverter of and move the changeover switch to MAINS i can power the house and oven but the moment the inverter is connected the grid dissapears. I'm normally able to push power back into the grid. Has anyone had a similar problem and can suggest a fix? I checked with a friend if there were any grid instabilites high/low voltage frequency changes but he did not record anything excessive. I see there is a reset pinhole on the smart meter (where power is fed into the house) but did not want to fiddle with it.
  8. Thanks Cef, installed without a problem it looks great and the weather widget works fine. I need more time work with the utility for the momen the focus is to see how best to extract the data (the dark background and figures makes it difficult to read), the 3D bars and legend seems the clearest for hourly data. Thanks again, its of great asssitance.
  9. Thanks Cef Looks great, where do I get version 4.6? I'm still running 4.02
  10. Thanks for the reply Cef There is an off grid option in the JRC Photovoltaic Geographical Information System (PVGIS) - European Commission, to provide a more accurate estimation of power not utilised and battery utilisation, % days with a full battery or % days with a depleted battery. One you can feed in the % power use per hour for a average day (24 hours). This will allow you to determine extra PV/battery capacity needed to go off grid. I would extract sample data sets for a couple of scenarios The consumption data in the GR tab per hour is what I'm after, to access the data per hour it looks like I have to hover the mouse over the hour and write down the values. Is there a way to directly access the data displayed in the GR tab for a day? Thanks
  11. Hi Cef I've changed routers and can again access you utility. I'm trying to do homework on going off grid, it appears one needs information on your useage pattern throughout the day, probably on an hourly basis. I've extracted the data in exported CSV file but the volume of data is intimidating about 90k records for a day and 65 for a minute, is there a way to aggregate the data per hour?
  12. Firmware updated but same error message. Assume its the LTE router but not getting support. Also a torrent site where the incoming connections time out so it may well be some communication problem.
  13. Thanks CEF i dont have a password, will ask them on monday.
  14. 1252519 I did not request a upgrade of firmware, unless done by Goodwe, I suspect some issue with the new router
  15. Hi Cef In January 2025 I change my Router and thereafter was unable to load your Goodwe app V.04.02. I get this error message below. I found the inverters IP adress using SEMS+, network link, WLAN. The ping command is returning data but I'm still unable to obtain access the App. Any suggestions on what else I could try? I'm not as technically savvy as PilgrimToHyperion..
  16. Given the feedback from FW you must fix the BMS, I would think its to FW benefit to make sure the battery is not compromised. I find it strange that you can sell aproduct but a key component the BMS is perhaps not covered. As I understand it batteries carry a warranty but is the owners responsibility to get it to the distributor/manufacturer. I'm impressed that the installer is still involved, but they will incur cost to remove and colllect the battery, from what I've read for other batteries there is normally a couple of days (to weeks) delay to test and fix whats wrong. I think the fastest lowest risk and cost option would be to get FW to come to your premises to fix the battery probably with less equipment to test than at the workshop they will probably replace the BMS. Do the sums of not having the battery for a couple of day.
  17. In Pmb I pay about R800 for a 40 Amp circuit breaker. At the moment I have one of those spinning disc meters that reverses when you feed back into the grid. The price per kW with the MCB = R1.86 on pre-paid it will be R2.60 but the MCB charge falls awy. I looks like the municiplaity will pay back 90c/kW when I sell back into the grid once their accounting system is fixed to handle credits. The cost of the meter will be about R3500. Lately my monthly consumption has dropped below monthly production so my meter shows a lower reading than what I reported before and it takes fiddling to get it right. In theory if I go this route I should save a bit. The Landis+Gyr is the meter that would be provided by te municiplaity to replace the old disc meter - which they plan to do eventually. If there is anyone that has experience of using this meter and understands how the process works? Are the buy and sell kW directly offset against each other or must I submit readings and get a credit from the municipality? I would also like to know if there are any issues with this meter?
  18. My Goodwe inverter heats up to over 60 degrees, inspired by BrettB I used 2 fans from and old PC, and a 12V charger that I had lying around. The fans fit nicely about 8 cm below the inverter. I salvaged aluminium angle used by tilers, initially taped and cable tied the angles together, but later attached to the fans with screws. Plastic file divider (red) used to channel the airflow. Money was spent on a Digital Temperature Controller with LCD Display XH-W3001 (12v output model) R229 and a R40 plugbox for power. I've set the W3001 controller to activate the fans at 45 degrees and to turn off at 37 degrees. The temp sensor was located at the back of the inverter. So far working well although a bit noisy, one can buy quieter fans. In my case the Goodwe inverter generates maximum heat midday so noise not an issue. A couple of pictures of the components used and installation. Max temp during recent heatwave was 45.8 degrees for a hour or so with fans on.
  19. Are you sure the electrical connections to the heat pump is not the problem? It sounds like it draws more power than the inverter can handle (20 amp + 10 amps for 10 sec). There will be a spike when the motor starts, but should not be anywhere near the inverters threshold. Can you run your inverter at 20 amps without grid power? If you can then I don't think the inverters is the problem. Cefs utility has an alarm that warns you when an excessive current is being drawn, does that happen when the heat pump starts up? Good luck finding the fault.
  20. I have the exact same problem, to scared to change anything, unless during the week when support is available, not impressed.
  21. I've also experience problems connecting to my Goodwe, recently added an additional pylontech and unable to configure it, turned out I'm suppose to use solargo however only able to connect very infrequently mostly get "failed" message. Logged a problem with Goodwe support who said they are experiencing problems, and have notified their office (assume in China) however no indication of when it will be resolved. Support were able to add the battery. Must say the poor communication makes it difficult to recommend a Goodwe inverter. Goodwe support upgraded my firmware to 1252517, looks like you are a few couple of versions "behind". I've been able to make changes to DOD with SEMS but did not try to change eco mode settings.
  22. My DB board is split into what the electrician called essential and non essential loads. I suspect your backed up loads = essentail. I think you did indeed answered you own question to check if its part of the essential (back up) loads turn off grid power and see if you can still power the pool pump. If you can its on the backup load. The risk as you would know is that if the pump turns on during load shedding and there is insufficient solar it could drain your battery.
  23. Note the warranty on the Pylontech UP5000 differs from the US5000 (5 yrs vs 7+3), a battery with a longer warranty should have a better resale. Can't comment on the Dyness. The pylontechs tend to be compatible with more inverters. My personal call would be 2 batteries and solar panel. The reason Solar panels will reduce you electrical bill and help with payback If the grid is off for an extended period and weather permitting you will be able to recharge the batteries You and family will learn how to live with solar, eg run power hungry appliances when the sun is shining, reduce consumption when there is poor solar power, you will get a feel for extra panels needed etc in future Adding another battery is relatively simple (could be DIY less than a day) getting solar installed is a much lengthier process, and may be more expensive if done on its own rather than part of a complete job. You would also need a COC (dont think thats required if you add a battery) You may be able to find good 2nd hand batteries at a significant lower price vs new.
  24. Hi tried adding an additional pylontech US3000c to my existing 3 US3000 pylontech's (1 US 3000c 2 US3000b) as the batteries were only charging to 87% on the old setting. The normal approach would have been to use PVmaster but it looks like it's no longer supported as I could not find the US3000"s. I downloaded Solargo but found that it defaulted to Warehouse as the location and when I tried to change it to South Africa I got a "failed" message. I ignored this and continued to the battery setting, initially the Pylontech US3000 x 4 and Pylontech US3000c were visible, I again tried to select the battery but probably after 50 "fialed" response gave up and quit the app. When I did re-open the app the batteries were no longer visible. I also noticed my DOD on grid changed to 89% and 99% for off grid and unable to change it. I think my firmware has been upgraded to 242417 My SolarWi internet connection has also dissappeared and now not able to connect to inverter with home Wifi. The Goodwe help desk are trying to help and were able to change DOD settings and changed the Amps to 296 (4x74amp pylontechs). Can anyone advise how to reload SolarWi? It initially worked when I installed Solargo but now not picked up by my mobile at all Is this communication failure "fail" when trying to select settings something that happens often? Is there a way to improve communication? How do you get the "US3000" options back is Solargo? Can one still use SEMS that allows changing modes and DOD?
  25. Looking for used Pylontech US3000, would need SOH and cycle count
