RIOT Cloudlink Sunsynk & Deye monitoring
I have: Sunsynk 8kW inverter with "COMM: e419 MCU: 6005" firmware 4 x Hubble Lithium AM-2 RIOT_Cloudlink_V1R2 with RIOT_CLoudLink_V3R1R5 firmware I've setup the RIOT as per above image and the connections are as follows: Hubble #1/Master battery CAN Port <--> Sunsynk Inverter CAN Port RIOT SER Port <--> Hubble #1/Master battery RS232 Port RIOT MUL Port <--> Sunsynk Inverter RS485 Port All battery ID are set as per manual and interconnected via Battery Port. Unfortunately the RIOT is not detecting the inverter. I tested the SunSynk RS485 with Solar-Assistant and the port works. I tested RIOT to Sunsynk with 2 different RJ45 Ethernet cables and no work. Any idea why the RIOT is not connecting to the inverter? EDIT: In the newer v4 RIOT manual, they indicate that the RS485 cable is not a regular Ethernet cable. The cable must only have pins 7 & 8 connected. See my post below for further information.

Sunsynk/Hubble AM2
Very neat - impressive. I see you have the "Legacy" SolarMan WiFi dongle. Do you have RIOT or SolarAssistant for monitoring the individual batteries?

Pi3 - Solar assistant over ICC
I've been using an RPI4b with 4GB RAM for 18 months: Pi.Hole/DNS/DHCP PPPoE router nftables firewall Samba NAS mqtt server PostgreSQL server Grafana Home-Assistant vnStat monitoring smokeping WireGuard Using Docker to contain the apps. No reboots or lockups in 18 months. The trick is to use an official Raspberry RPI4 power supply. I've just started using an old RPI3b (1GB 1.2Ghz) for SolarAssistant - for 6 days (was on for about 2 weeks before) - also no problems - using original RPI3b USB power supply.

Sunsynk 5.5k single CAN bus port limitation
Solar Assistant gives access to each AM-2's summary data and not the cells in an AM-2. https://solar-assistant.io/help/dashboard/battery The overall data per AM-2 is how I discovered the different capacity Ah values.

SunSynk 8k + Hubble AM2 + 16x400W PV
Thanks for the advice wrt balancing - will call Hubble tomorrow to follow up. Also thanks for the tip on the Landis Gyr - seem I have similar keypad - communicates over power line to the meter. Don't feel like paying CoJ for the 50Wh * 24 * 30 * R2.20 = ~R80/pm which I can supply myself. EDIT: been using 20W Grid trickle for that last 6 months all good, might try 0W.

SunSynk 8k + Hubble AM2 + 16x400W PV
In the graph, the grid power is so low it's hardly visible. The batteries are connected in parallel with the supplied cables - no idolators between batteries. Each battery does have an On/Off switch. Between the bank and the inverter there is a "KETO 1 Battery Disconnector with 2x200A Fuses"

Sunsynk 5.5k single CAN bus port limitation
According to Hubble Support... "The SunSynk 8kW and SunSynk 5kW and SynSynk 3.6kW all have different RS485 ports/pins that require updates to the RIOT." They are working on getting the RIOT <--> SunSynk 8kW working... In the mean time, I'm using Solar-Assistant - works well. I like Solar Assistant as it has MQTT capability that I use to save data to PostgreSQL.

SunSynk 8k + Hubble AM2 + 16x400W PV
Apologies, I should have stated and the picture is not clear, but there is a grid supply. If you look in the right hand you can see the CoJ pre-paid keypad attached to the RED plug - before the inverter - so I can still buy electricity. This key-pad uses "comms/ethernet over power" to communicate with the meter. The main DB board is in the house, and the SunSynk + Batteries in the garage. The installer ran AC cables from the main breaker in the main DB to the garage DB and then back again to feed the house. I'm on CoJ pre-paid and they act as backup. I have no intention of going "off-grid". By 11:30 am my batteries are fully charged and have to dump most of the afternoon PV electricity. I'm considering feeding the excess back to CoJ, but the paperwork requirements, change to ToU tariff and new meter seem like a bunch of trouble. The SynSynk is set to consume 50W from the Grid to prevent issues on the pre-paid meter.

SunSynk 8k + Hubble AM2 + 16x400W PV
Thank you for your feedback - faster than Hubble support 🙂 I've logged a call with Hubble Support. They said they know what the problem is and will let me know...... still waiting. I don't think the 4 batteries were manually balanced as they were factory new. The batteries BMS are interconnected via the "battery link" ports and battery #1 is connected to the inverter. What's the procedure to balance the 4 batteries? Don't they balance automatically since they all interconnected and the BMS's can do that? Thanks in advance for any help.

SunSynk 8k + Hubble AM2 + 16x400W PV
Here are some graphs from the last 3 days: EDIT: Example showing blending of inputs to support UPS load 10kW UPS Load ~ 4.9kW from Solar PV + 3.5kW from battery + 2.0kW from Grid The numbers don't add up exactly as there is some lag, but close enough. The inverter is inverting 8.4kW

SunSynk 8k + Hubble AM2 + 16x400W PV
Just got my install finished on Fri 12th Nov 2021 - can't wait for load shedding... 🙂 SunSynk 8kW inverter 4 x Hubble AM2 5.5kWh ~20kWh 16x400W Seraphim 6.4kWp in 2 strings of 8 JHB South, North facing, roof slope is ~23° Evacuated Tube Thermosiphon Solar Geyser Solar-Assistant RPI3b I have the RIOT and the "Older" SolarMan WiFi RIOT does not seem to work with the SunSynk 8kW inverter at this stage 😞 Since I had a RP3b lying around I've also tried Solar-Assistant. So far Solar-Assistant is my preferred tool as it works locally and cloud with a rich data and access to mqtt.

Sunsynk 5.5k single CAN bus port limitation
@PowerUser thanks for the prompt response. Tried using the RS485/MOD MUL port with RJ45 cable to SunSynk RS485 port. The RIOT reports "NO INVERTED CONNECTED" PS. RPI3b with USB-RS485 cable to the SunSynk RS485 port works fine (Solar-Assistant)

Sunsynk 5.5k single CAN bus port limitation
I've just received my RIOT to connect to a SunSynk 8kW and 4xHubble AM2 According to riot_cloudlink_installation_manual_2_1_8.pdf page 2, there is only 1 CANbus port: I've used the Serial port to connect to Battery 1. The SynSynk CAN port is connected to battery 1. How do I monitor the inverter with RIOT?
