Heat pump and solar PV combo
Hi I'm not a plumber, just an end user. The heat pump also circulates the water. The plumbing to circulate the water for either system sounds complicated and unnecessary. I assume you have system with panels and an inverter that powers your house. In that case the heat pumps are very efficient and you will barely notice that they are on during the day and if you have enough batteries you can run them for an hour in the morning which should be enough to get the water up to temperature for a morning shower. My confusion comes from the label solar heat pump which suggest they might have pv panels connected directly to them which would be a waste since the heat pump would only run for +- 2 hours in the if noone is home.

East facing panels, west facing panels, or more north facing panels?
https://watts247.com/product/growatt-can-bus-and-rs485-bms-board-upgrade-older-models/ I found this international site, there might be a shop locally I couldn't find any with a quick search.

East facing panels, west facing panels, or more north facing panels?
I don't know if it's even possible but I'm imagining SUB mode where the U is replaced with a wind turbine.

East facing panels, west facing panels, or more north facing panels?
At this https://www.solarwaysuppliers.co.za/product/growatt-5kw-inverter-48v-spf500es/ price R24k. You get a proven offgrid inverter with 10kw capacity and 2 mppt's. I would be interested to know if the ac port could be used for a wind turbine In the offgrid setting. In the urban setting where utility is available even if unreliable then the luxpower ecohybrid is a better machine only because it can blend all 3 sources. If you have 2 sources to blend then you are not missing out on anything. I have 2 luxpower sna inverters and I'm only using one mppt on each inverter.

It sounds like he is aiming to have 2 inverter with each having a string 9 panels in series. Basically a 10kw inverter with 2 mppt inputs.

The plan sounds very good and well thought out. Great choice of offgrid inverter having 2 of them seems to be the best scenario where you have enough capacity for peak loads and 2 mppt's for panels to face different directions.

Replacing a perfectly functioning roof is the kind of budget you need for this. Makes Victron look cheap.

Luxpower software to save electricity
Hi I don't think the inverter has any settings for what you are asking( you have to go with deye/sunsynk). 06h00 to 18h00 are ok expectations in summer but the 'solar window' is much narrower in winter. I would say 08h00 to 16h00 at best. To achieve what you want you would have to calculate how long your batteries will take to charge with the amount of panels you have. And then time any other heavy loads(TV's, fridges and computers are so efficient that they are just part of the base load) to run from solar after the batteries are charged. Basically what I'm saying is load management. Reduce AC start and end times to a few hours in the evening when you will be using microwaves and kettles. Disable AC charge for the battery if you have enough panels to fully charge the batteries everyday. You can always use quick charge if you need it. Great inverter I'm enjoying mine.

Need advice
To add to the completely offgrid topic, I think if 10kwh lithium batteries can get you through a 24 hour cycle then that is the size of the system you need. The price of pretrol/diesel to get you through 4-6 days of overcast weather is way less than upgrading the inverter and tripping lithium batteries. So a compatible generator should get you through bad weather even cheaper a municipal electricity feed.

Growatt spf5000ES limit charging current in Li Mode
Getting a second battery might help as the inverter can only charge upto 5kw even if you had 4 batteries. Just to be sure you are saying the inverter is charging the one battery at 5kw? Or 4 point something kw?

Growatt SPF 5000ES
I think we found the issue 9s should be closer to 300volts. 3s 3p is incorrect for this inverter which is a high voltage model 450v.

The spf 5000es is a straight forward machine either you installed everything correctly or you haven't. Show us a picture of the voltage screen.

Unbalanced Mppt Sunsynk
Hi all of that won't harm the inverter. 50volts times 4 is only 200volts way below the limit.

Unusual beep noise from my Growatt 5000 es inverter
I'm thinking ; overload sound? That is the common beep. Could also just confirm your pv voltages.

Better Late Than Never - But First I Have A Question Regarding Inverter Location
@RSA_Jay Trying to answer the inverter placement question, since you will be spending money on enclosures outside which has an increased risk of theft. How about spending the enclosures money on installing a ceiling and insulation in the garage which might make it so comfortable it becomes the new hangout spot.

State of charge with the growatt spf5000 es
It's normal for lead acid batteries which I initially had. Then when I got lithiums I had the bms cable connected and it gives accurate battery percentage. I would not know how lithiums behave without the bms cable.

New heat pump installation
If the geyser is not the reason the battery is running out in the morning then the heat pump won't solve that problem because other appliances are finishing the battery and you need more batteries. But if you have a small to medium solar array the reduced peak demands of the heat pump can be met even on cloudy days. It depends on what problem you are trying to solve. The question is what is using the battery at night.

Pre purchase question ??
Hi @Twaatiesince you have a Gas stove and solar geyser the question tgen becomes; do you plan to have any loads before the inverter like aircons and do you wish to feedback to the grid if that is possible. If you have no plans to feedback or non essential loads then an axpert max becomes an option for a similar price to a 5kW hybrid. A 5kW hybrid is nice should grid feedback become a real option
