Sunsynk Trip out

Featured Replies

Good day

Im using a sunsynk 5kW hybrid inverter with an alpha ess 10.1kW battery. The problem im experiencing is that when it is on solar feed only it tends to trip out on overcurrent for some reason. When grid feed is switched on everything seems to be working fine. Could this be a setting thats not correctly setup , or the battery , or what could this be? There is 16 x 455watt panels installed, 2 string of 8 each connected in serie connection. Please assist me with this problem its very annoying and im not sure what the issue could be.

It might help to mention the specifics of your panel and your inverter.

It appears that the Sunsynk throttle the A to how much the inverter can handle. For the older firmware versions it was 11A, with the new firmware update the limit is 13A.

So i may of misunderstood you, do you mean that when the grid is down you are experiencing overcurrent protection, does the inverters log say AC overcurrent protection ? It could just be that you are going over 5,5kw the inverter is rated for and its causing the inverter to trip? the other thing you should check is the battery charge /discharge amps on inverter,it could be set too low and when you demand more power than the battery can supply it would probably also trip.

I have a Revov Cube system with a Synsynk 6kVA 19” rackmount inverter and with two Revov LiFePO4 batteries.

I run it as a loadshedding backup and thus have no PV installed.

Everything was working just fine for weeks now, and I literally did not know when loadshedding happens.

Yesterday, loadshedding happened as per schedule, but lasted more than 4.5 hours. I was unaware and ran induction plates and my oven. The load is within the Sunsynk capacity. But, I accidentally drained my batteries to zero, and everything shut down.

When Eskom came on, the Sunsynk started charging the batteries. I then switched to bypass and Eskom fed the house and Sunsynk continued to charge the batteries. I switched back and the grid now powers the house through to inverter, as it was set up for.

One exception, now the batteries do not charge up full and are idling at 90% state of charge.

Advice please?

When Eskom came on, the Sunsynk started charging the batteries, but gave no power output to the house.

I then switched to bypass and Eskom fed the house and Sunsynk continued to charge the batteries. Despite that the inverter charges, when I Switch to inverter, there is no power to the house.

Now the batteries are idling at 90% state of charge, but it still won’t feed power to the house.

Advice please?

Try doing a hard reset on your system. Turn off your battery and inverter. Leave them off for a few minutes, then power up your battery and then your inverter.

Thanks. Things are back to normal with one exception. The battery won’t charge beyond 90%. No idea what caused this, I have not made any setting adjustments.

My hubble AM2 needed a firmware update to get it to 100% SOC.  Hubble also suggested draining the battery to zero then charging again... but thats what caused your issue....
