SolarMD BMS trip voltages

Featured Replies

SolarMD recommend a mx charge voltage of 54.6V - 3.4 V/cell  ( reported on the Victron website - they don't seem to provide this info on their own site ) This voltage is much lower than their peers and am wondering what the actual BMS high voltage trip voltage is ? Anyone know ? I would like to parallel this with another bank which I sometimes take to 56V for the occasional balance

They quote the operational voltage of 44.8-55.6V in their specs on their Web.

My victron settings for the 7,4 kwh solarMD battery are

Absorption voltage  54.6 V

Float voltage  53.4 V

Equalization voltage  54.6 V

above values as recommended by SolarMD

by the way the solarMD batteries do not require balancing.

I am unable to get my SolarMD battery to communicate with SolarAssistant

Is it in their list of supported batteries?
If not, have you been in contact with them to see how you can enable the "Emulated BMS" ?

Let SolarAssistant perform it's own state of charge (SoC) calculation by counting power flowing in and out of the battery. This is a good fallback option for anyone who can't get a real BMS reading. It's less accurate than a Victron BMS but much more accurate than the standard voltage based readings of an inverter

It is on the list, I emailed them this morning - hopefully someone will assist.

I am using Emulated BMS now, but it is less accurate.

I was just looking for someone with the same setup to assist.  Thanks!

Evening all, problem is fixed.  SolarAssist gave me the wrong cable.  Everything is working now - I can confirm that SolarMD battery and Mecer Axpert 5.6K MKS IV 5600VA / 5600W 48V MPPT Inverters (SOL-I-AX-5M4) will work together with SolarAssist.
