May 25, 20224 yr Hi Guys, Who have actual experience with panels/ strings installed on East and West side roofs due to space issues on the Northen side of a roof? It seems you will loose around 10% of capacity, is this a value you can use on dimensioning?
May 25, 20224 yr East/West split is better than a North facing in my opinion. The peak may be slightly lower but the time that you will be making good power from your panels is much longer. This results in you having to use your battery for less hours so you save on the battery size you need. It is possible to overwattage your strings so that you make up for any power that you would have lost. My guess would be that it probably gives you on average an extra 30 minutes per day of good solar production over pure North facing panels
May 25, 20224 yr Your summer production should be insane as long as you have zero shading And as high as possible so you get started early in the morning and end late in the evening. You should have a longer flatter production curve Mine are 5 panels east and 5 panels west, zero shading on the morning and shading/sunset in the evenings from about 5pm in winter. Not had this orientation full summer yet so not sure till what time in the evening the production will be good. Edited May 25, 20224 yr by WannabeSolarSparky
