Sizing panels to inverter help..

Can someone please help me with regards to sizing a solar panel for a 1200w microinverter, the specs of the inverter are below:

The advert for the inverter says it is designed for 4 panels / 60&72 cell panels.

INPUT DATA

Recommended Input Power (W) 200-360
Peak Power MPPT Voltage Range (V) 32-48
Operating Voltage Range (V) 16-60
Maximum Input Voltage (V) 60
Maximum Input Current (A) 10.5

I can find 365w panels for sale, specs below:

(Voc) 41.13 volts
(Vmp) 33.96 volts
(Isc) 11.30 amps
(Imp) 10.75 amps

 

Does the slightly larger 365w v 360w panel matter? Am I just looking at the (Voc) to be within the operating range of 16-60v, what about the amps?

I'm guessing that by plugging the 4x panels directly into the microinverter the voltages don't add up (like in a string) otherwise 4 panels would then be 165v?

These panels would be fine as they would not get to the 365W under normal conditions. Also they will not get to the Imp. Even if they did produce more current the MPPT in the inverter would just throttle at the maximum current of 10.5A. You just never use panels with a Voc within like 90% of what is allowed.

Great inverter for saving during the day but a bit costly if you use more than 1 for a larger system.

No the Voc does not add up. It is based on each panel's Voc of 60V.

Voltage won't add up in parallel, but watts and amps will, I'm pretty sure that inverter will only handle 1 of those panels

The ratings are per input, it has 4 inputs.

It won't be easy to find one panel of 1200W which is the output of the inverter. That's why it is 4 panels. You can use it with 1, 2, 3 or 4 panels.

I only made that comment because the doc doesn`t state that it is per input and the input doesn`t always match the output. I have a 3kva axpert that only allows 600W input, silly, i know.

P.S. this also looks like a portable unit to me (that handle is suspicious) which is why I thought it was made for smaller panels that would be much easier to carry. I can't see people going camping with 4 300W panels. I would make very sure with the supplier that you can indeed connect 1200W input.

You get lots of portable, foldable or rollable panels too which are lower wattage and 60 cell and would make more sense that you would need 4 to make up 360W total. I know this because I started off with a 32W roll up panel many years ago which looks like a joke now, but if it is meant to be portable then it makes sense.

It's a micro inverter. It lives on the roof below the panels - the "handle" is the mount. It is also grid-tied, so you can't really use it while camping. It is definitely a 1200W grid-tied micro inverter that takes 4 panels.
