August 1, 20223 yr Hi guys, Haven't been here for a long time. Just installed an 8Kw Sunsynk to replace my Axpert, and while monitoring the charging today I noticed the inverted used from power from the grid while charging the battery from PV. I want to know how I can completely stop the inverter from using the grid unless the batteries are below 30%. Heres a pic of what happened. At 11:35 a load (probably kettle) was switched on, PV generated 3.2Kw, batteries charging with 1.8Kw. The load was 2Kw, so why did the inverted add another 688W from the grid, if the PV watts were enough to carry the load and the battery charging simultaneously? Or, if the PV watts was not strong enough, why did it not lower the charge watts to accomodate the load? Around 10:00 there was also a load, but during that time the batteries were used to help the PV sustain the load, the grid was not used. I don't understand the difference between these two scenarios? My system mode is set such that the battery is set to 30% the whole day, in my mind it means it must run from batteries until it reaches 30%, then switch back to grid? Thanks!
August 1, 20223 yr Bit difficult to guess without seeing the settings. This is my guess: If you add a lot of load suddenly the inverter will draw a bit of power(second or two) from the grid till it can ramp up the power from other sources. Similarly if you shut down a load suddenly then you might export a bit of power to the grid till it slows down the generation
August 1, 20223 yr Did you prioritise load over battery in your setup? If not try this. What do you timer settings look like?

I'd prefer any available solar power to charge the batteries before using it for load. Timer settings are all set to 30% SOC with no charging from grid or gen. I can see how your suggested change can make a difference, just confused as to why it did not reduce charging to help the load, as it did at about 10:00. How do you set it that it runs from battery until selected % then switch back to grid source?

I’m waiting for batteries to be installed but isn’t this the normal behavior? What mode are you using? Are you using Time of Use? I have a Deye inverter but they’re similar. A little different UI for the Work Modes.
November 24, 20241 yr we haven't played around with the unit much its only ever kicked in when we ran out of electricity or load shedding how do you use it during select times of the day or use it until battery hits a set percentage for then the electricity kick in and take over from the battery?
