I thought that in Line mode you connect the input to the output. The solar only charges the battery.

One more question! In SBU mode, with a discharged battery, is there no risk of feeding back to the network?

I would think that there is always a slight risk of grid feeding whenever the battery is charging and the DC<->AC converter is operating, and the AC side of the DC<->AC converter is connected to AC-in, which it would be in the above configuration.

Now I have time to deal with my hobby!:))
I use the SOLTARO protocol and for me the 12-13 programs can still be set based on voltage! It is not possible to set based on SOC! What am I messing up?
I use display firmware 22.20.

My analysis of the display code (I happen to have 22.20 to analyse) is that the DSP has to respond correctly to the undocumented command QDOP in order for settings 12, 13 and 29 to work in SoC instead of voltage. So it's possible that your main firmware isn't recent enough for this.

What is you main (U1) firmware version?

Sorry, so many respondents to remember.

The problem is, none of the x81.xx firmwares support QDOP! It seems that this is a fairly recent development.

The latest 81.xx that I have is 81.07 from September 2023. 82.06 has it (for 10 kW model), and it's hex file is dated November 2023. So it looks like you'll have to wait for a more recent 81.xx firmware to appear, and then wait for me to patch it. I had a quick look at the usual suspects; nothing new.

Edit: Or you could complain to your supplier that you don't have the SoC functionality that others have, and ask if there is a firmware update available to fix it.

I am running 81.07 too on the max ii 8kW. I now understand that users of that type are "the odd ones" out, since most others DO have the option to use SOC instead of Voltage. 😟😡

Complaining to the (local) supplier here (Valencia Spain) will have no effect. They could not care less.

For now, I have left Spain for an indefinite period and the Axpert is on its own. Disconnected from the gid by a relay. I have no monitoring capacity now because the Network is also down... I cross my fingers that it may remain properly working till I return.

May I be so curious Coulomb as to ask what it is that you "patch" in the software?

I patch the hex file, a loooong string of 0-F characters plus a few spaces and a colon. These characters represent machine code (instructions and data, mostly instructions) that implement the firmware.

I have a disassembler, so I can work in assembly language. Few programmers know any assembly language these days, and even fewer know the C2000 DSP assembly language. I have a few tools to help me automate the patching process. If you're curious, you can read the .asm file that I put into the more recent patched firmware zip files. But that doesn't show the 90% of the work, which is working out what changes to make, and how the firmware works in the first place.

There is also my JTAG post, though it's not directly relevant.

I've never heard of anyone trying it. I assume it would be a huge disaster; there are all sort of control system constants in there that depend sensitively on the hardware and the power level. And of course, you could overload your inverter and it would not protect itself, thinking that it's running on 10 kW hardware.

So yes, that would be the wrong choice.

But my knowledge of coding is just about null and void. Nor do I have any experience. 

The question actually was: what is the difference between the 'Patched' version and the regular one? Do they work differently on a practical level, what is actually patched? (sort of hoping that you might be able to "patch" program 12 & 13 and get the SOC in there...) 🫢

I am now in correspondence with the seller.
I complained that the 12-13 program does not work based on SOC and I would like to receive the latest firmware.
Now we are at the point where your engineer wants to look at the inverter remotely. And enter the wifi password of the inverter. But nothing like that!
This is going to be a long process! :((

Well, that depends on the patch. It's a bit like saying if you edit a document, how does the meaning change? 

Let's take a simple patch: fixing the premature float bug. This can be done by changing two characters in the hex file (one is so that the checksum is still valid given the other change). The effect is that a branch will be taken where in the original firmware it would not be taken. The high level effect of that is that the battery will charge until both the current is low, but also the battery voltage must be near the bulk voltage setting. Previously it only had to be near the float voltage setting. In practice, I usually change the code so that the version number reported by the QVFW command is different, so you can quickly tell that you are running the patched firmware, and the patched firmware you thought you were updating to. 

A contrasting case: fully patched firmware. Now the display behaves differently, the firmware responds to one of the commands very differently, and you need a pair of manuals for all the changes. Yet still 99% of the firmware is the same. You can diff the new and old hex files to prove it.

That's actually very hard, because it involves several new commands (not impossible by itself), but these commands are not documented. So at least for the foreseeable future, that's not practical. Sorry.

A probléma az, hogy egyik x81.xx firmware sem támogatja a QDOP-t! Úgy tűnik, ez egy meglehetősen friss fejlemény.

A legújabb 81.xx, ami nálam van, a 81.07 2023. szeptemberi. A 82.06-os rendelkezik (10 kW-os modellhez), a hexa fájlja pedig 2023. novemberi. Úgy tűnik tehát, hogy várnia kell egy újabb 81.xx-re. firmware jelenik meg, majd várja meg, amíg kijavítom. Gyorsan megnéztem a szokásos gyanúsítottakat; semmi új.

Szerkesztés: Vagy panaszt tehet a szállítójának, hogy nem rendelkezik olyan SoC-funkcióval, mint másoknak, és megkérdezheti, hogy van-e elérhető firmware-frissítés a javításhoz.

I already read that 81.07 exists, but 22.11 is still new to me.
What I complained about is that there is no SOC-based switching. I got the new firmware for this.
Do you have any information about these firmwares?
I haven't done the update yet. I'm planning for the weekend because the electricity needs to be disconnected from the apartment.

22.21 is new to me too. Please post it here, or PM me a link to it, or just attach it in a PM if that works.

As I mentioned in the post you quoted, none of the 81.xx firmwares up to 81.07 support the QDOP command, which by my analysis is required for the SoC support to work. My guess is that 22.21 adds the display end support (it's not present in 22.20). But my understanding is that you need both ends for it to work. To be sure, you should reflash these two, let is know, and if I'm right, ask for a later DSP firmware. Probably don't tell them that pesky Coulomb says so 🤔, just that you already had 81.07, so it seems like that's what needs to change.

I don't mind putting in my bit of pressure, only who is "them"? If anyone can give me an e-mail address on how to reach Axpert, I'd be happy to oblige.

I doubt it. Voltronic's customers are the resellers, not the inverter owners. I think that they're expecting contact along the lines of "How much will 100 units cost, and when can I have them?"!

The weather is bad now.
Solar cable is disconnected in the inverter.
120v voltage stuck!
81.07 you won't be on the inverter for long!:)
281.05 fixed firmware not stuck!

The voltage of MPPT1 can be seen in the picture.
Cloudy day. The factory firmware could not keep the panels at their working point. And from 330V it is stuck at 120V.
Coulomb modified firmware never freezes on 120v. I am grateful to him for that!
Unfortunately, my supplier cannot provide a new firmware. 81.07 is currently the latest for the 8Kw model.
