Posted January 6, 20232 yr Hi all, a friend of mine has a freedomwon 15/12 battery with a Deye 5kw. Can he use a normal Ethernet cable between the 2 or there is a special cable?
January 6, 20232 yr Normal ethernet cable works for the battery to inverter coms (with axpert at least) , better to use a shielded ethernet cable though. Edit : see below, special crimp needed https://powerforum.co.za/topic/11930-sunsynk-inverter-not-communicating-with-freedom-lite-108/?do=findComment&comment=118969 Edited January 6, 20232 yr by Hansa

I have tried different lithium profiles but no comms. Also can I use any of the 2 ports on the battery? They are not labeled

January 6, 20232 yr On our battery it was the port further towards the back that went to the inverter. One more towards the front to the next battery. (if I remember correctly). Not sure if you need a resistor on the last one with the deye. On the deye it should be battery type 00 as per manual. Most of these details are in the manuals available online Freedomwon technical support are quite responsive and should be able to assist telephonically during working hours Edited January 6, 20232 yr by Hansa
January 6, 20232 yr I see the manual says for deye you need a type 1 can cable. So best verify with freedomwon

January 6, 20232 yr Ok see below Should be sorted with this info https://powerforum.co.za/topic/11930-sunsynk-inverter-not-communicating-with-freedom-lite-108/
January 6, 20232 yr If you can crimp a cable like this it will work. So a 1:1 cable will definitely not work. If you don't have a RJ45 Crimper then use a Chocolate block connector then cut a normal LAN cable then join pin 4 & 5 with Pin 7 & 8 & leave the rest. The match up the 4 & 5 to the CAN port of the inverter & the other side pin 7 & 8 to the battery. Edited January 6, 20232 yr by Steve87
January 6, 20232 yr Author Thank you guys, it has worked for me. I ended up just cutting an Ethernet cable and making the joins according to the above suggestions.
