Hi, I am looking to buy an 8KW inverter but alread have issues with a 1KW Axpert inverter I bought over the internet form a supplier in Jhb. So if I want to invest 50 or 60 k I would prefer to buy from a reputable supplier, one that can repair inverters at least. Any advice will be appreciated. Or do I just insure it and if there is a problem claim from insurance.

Off the top of my head, Sunsynk has local support and local repair

Segen support and repair their Axperts under warranty (Kodak branded)

Mecer have limited local repair and swap outs

RCT, swap out only afaik

Tricky. There is grey market equipment on the market, and often the only time you know you've bought grey market is when you need service. So ask whoever you're buying from who the wholesaler is and verify that they offer support and warranties.

And check that your installer has an account with the supplier and will honour the warrantee. I got burnt by a purchase from a guy who bought from a reputable supplier, but couldn't provide the original invoice when it broke so the supplier said sorry Sam. Need the paperwork.

Register your equipment for the warrantee as soon as possible after installation.

Ok thanks RudShep, that is good advice, I will contact the importers or distributers so they can recommend a retail shop/supplier.

Synerji/Axpert supplier Herholds was quit rapid with replacing a failed part in guarantee (I did the troubleshooting). But I don't know about their repair capacity.
