Kool Energy / Mecer 1 / 2kW not charging to 100%

Featured Replies

Just an update, I heard from the guy I bought my inverter from, the supplier is busy testing my unit, but suspect a faulty battery so far. If they confirm it is, they will replace the battery. Still waiting to hear the final diagnosis, but so far, this is more than I expected to be honest.

I recently bought a Kool Energy 1KW Lithium (1.3Kwh 24v integrated Lifepo4 Battery) to use as a UPS on TV/Decoder and a couple of lights. The inverter have been doing exactly this for the past 2 weeks, but yesterday and last night during load shedding it turned itself off. The Manual is kind of hard to follow (online version's pages are all messed up: https://www.solarwaysuppliers.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/KOOL-1KW-LITHIUM-MANUAL.pdf). I have not touched the settings and left it at default.

Any ideas why the inverter is not staying up? Note that the load is under 400W when the lights and tv/decoder is on, at night when everything is switched of this is maybe 40-50W

@bravs22, have you had any feedback regarding the final diagnosis yet?

No. You know how it goes, everyone is always quick to take your cash, after that there is no rush to help you. Still awaiting feedback. It's been a week.

Update: I have been advised that the problem on my unit, and the other units returned at same time have been fixed......but they did not say what issue was ...,... they are now testing unit and I hope to get it back next week.... holding thumbs

@Craig Dyer, please give us an update after you've run your unit—would love to know if the problem is resolved or not!

Update on my unit. It's confirmed that my battery is the culprit. My supplier says they are waiting on a shipment of new units and batteries from China. ETA somewhere within the next two weeks. They'll replace my battery before the unit is returned to me.

Update: Supplier has confirmed there is a problem with my unit, however no fix yet...... hope to get update tomorrow, as supplier is now testing 3 new units to see if they also have problem before reverting.... we live in hope.

Hi, I got this message today:

"Hi, this is Owen, i am the aftersales manager from CNBM, we are the sole agent here.

Firstly, i need to emphasize that the unit is working fine, what you saw soc can not be 100%, it is only the display problem, and it won't affect your usage, just make sure that you charge the battery more than 3 hours, then it can be charged fully. If you worry about the  any similar problems, please return back to your supplier, they will help to send back to me to do the update and calibrate the SOC display.

Hi Johanpre - We are having the exact same issue. Had the inverter for a week now and every now and again when we have loadshedding the inverter won't automatically switch to Battery back up and we have to manually switch it back on. This is not how this device is marketed and surely there must be a setting or something is wrong with them. and you are right the manual does not offer alot of info or atleast its not very clear.

So the saga continues....... during first load shedding today, I plug my phone into the USB port on the unit and it does not charge my phone..... looks like no power is going to any of the 4 DC ports on the front of the unit, and yes, I did turn on the big red DC switch :)....... the unit has been collected and sent back to supplier.....I live in hope,

@Owen Zhangis it just a display issue, or is the display accurately reflecting that the BMS is still trying to charge the battery? Is there not a danger of overcharging?

I'd also like to know. Is shows the charging animation, but doesn't go higher than 98%.

I have no problem with that, the unit works without problems.

I'd like to know however if it's drawing the full charge current from the mains.

Ag ja, Same issue here. Unit about 3 weeks old, hasn't worked very hard (basically just keeps internet on during LS. ) Charges up to 82% and does not increase beyond that... Battery has never even dropped below 70%

Is there gonna be a fix for this? Im not comfortable ignoring the issue, also, Not really acceptable that we have to run around trying to fix this.

Been almost two and half weeks now waiting for a shipment of batteries from China. There's a 10% chance I can get mine back this week with a replaced battery. Fair warning to anyone wanting to buy a Kool Energy 1kw Lithium inverter. Read this entire thread before doing so.

Its not just the Kool Energy units, Mine is a 2kw Mecer with Lithium batteries and the exact same issue.

The only feedback i received from Mustek so far is that its "an ongoing investigation"

They have those same trolley units isn't it?

OEM issue mayhaps
