Same problem with my DeepCool 1KW. Batt showing 0%. Unplugged incoming power to it and anything plugged into the DeepCool unit. Turned off front DC switch. Held the silver reset button at the back for about 7 seconds and released which turned the unit off. Waited 20s then turned the unit back on with the power button. Percentage returned to 90% which was correct as it wasn't fully charged

I couldn't turn the unit back on immidiately after the reset which is why I waited 20s

We've been experiencing the same issue with our KOOL trolley. Worried the whole night, tried this, boom - battery shows fully charged.

  • Yes I have. If it is a Mecer unit, contact Mustek support in Richmond to arrange. They will be getting the device to update firmware again in a few weeks. Mine took less than an hour to update.

Yesterday as loadshedding ended and power was restored, I noticed a strange smell from the inverter and it wouldn't output any AC when on battery.

Error E02, even when there's nothing connected to it. The unit is currently unplugged, and I'm hoping to perform some sort of reset and it works again.

I don't want this to be a dead loss. Has anyone experienced any similar problems?

Have you tried the method @Mscjvh indicated above your post?

The silver reset button isn't button you hold. It's like a toggle switch. One press on, one press off. DC switch is always off.

Also, mosfet blew, no idea why.

Hey i just got mine a few weeks ago. It was fine and everything but now shows 0% but still works and everything… i have not tried the reset button and everything yet but I saw a bunch of you sent it back.. should I send mine back just to be safe or should the reset thingy do the trick to show correct battery display?

My Kool energy unit charges to 153% then shows 0%… flickering between the two. Any idea what might be wrong?

Hi my inverter has also been doing this. Did you find out the reason? Thanks

I never sent my unit for the software update and it still works fine.  However, lately at more frequent intervals it is making a clicking sound and sometimes the lights in the house dim for fraction of a second at the same time.  any similar experiences?

This happens to us too. In our case I suspect it's an issue with municipal supply, because it only really happens in the evening peak regardless of our own draw. Something like a bad neutral out in the street.

The clicking is presumably from relays in the UPS preparing to switch over to battery. So I believe the inverter is doing its job in response to supply irregularities, rather than being the cause of them.

I've had the software update done quite some time ago, and I have always had that clicking. I am sure i mentioned it somewhere in the early pages of this thread. It happens at any time of the day regardless of the batteries being fully charged or connected items being on or off. I do not have lights connected to mine so cannot confirm the dipping when clicking occurs. I have not noticed any such issues with the connected equipment.

I have a similar problem with my KOOL trolley. The battery shows 100% full and everything works fine. Then, randomly, the voltage shows 0% without there having been a power outage or the inverter having been used. If there is then a power outage or the mains feed is switched off (with the voltage showing 0%) the inverter does not provide backup power (obviously). However, the battery is actually 100% full but only indicating 0%. I know it is 100% because I push the silver button momentarily and the voltage display immediately jumps from 0% (and charging) to 100% (and not charging). If I now switch off the mains feed the inverter immediately kicks in, which indicates to me that there is maybe a circuitry or software problem.

Unfortunately, reading through this thread it does not appear that anyone has found a solution to this problem and sending the unit in for a software update does not appear to work either. So I regularly check the display to see if the voltage has dropped to 0% and then reset it sing the silver button. Luckily, I have no other problems with my unit. I have nursed my battery by reducing the charging rate according to the load-shedding timetable.

My concern is that if the battery is at 100% and the circuitry/software changes this to 0% and starts charging the battery again can this overcharge or damage the battery?

Incidentally, my silver button feels very wishy-washy. There is no audible or tactile click when I push it in.
