Good day,

I'm looking at a similar setup but haven't bought yet as I'm currently between the Esener inverter and the Growatt SPF 5000 inverter. I want to start with just a backup system to run the essentials and at a later stage look at solar panels. The geyser is already solar / tubes and the stove is gas and I'm not looking at running the non-essentials through the inverter at all. As this will purely be a backup system for now, the battery will be charged through Eskom once the power comes back on.

How are you finding the setup so far? How much load have you ran through the inverter? Any issues you're currently experiencing or you would like to point out? Can you pickup when loadshedding kicks in with lights dimming or appliances going off and on for a few milliseconds?

Looking forward to hearing everyones feedback and experience.

Hi so far very happy, no issues, only tripped once when I tried to run a welding machine + the system was charging. Other than that my general loads are not high at all, everything energy efficient, but we also obviously manage loads and do not run multiple heavy draw items at one time.

Based on the install location, the fans are noisy when charging so bear that in mind, had to change settings to charge slower, the lights do dim so you know its loadshedding, no issues on appliances droppings so far.

Hi All

So the smartess app is working for the Esener 5.5k invertor but it is recording the battery percentage wrong. Currently the battery is on 46 percent but the smartess app says is on 70 percent. Anyone know how to fix this? Not sure if ive done something wrong. Thank you.

The app does not display realtime info. Your data logger sends the info the the server every 5 minutes. Sometimes there is a lag in the info being updated.

Please help. The guy that installed my esener 5.5kw inverter and 5kw inverter didn't connect the comms cable. Where can I find a new coms cable. Tried everywhere. Ended up speaking directly with Esener China. What a mess. What type of cable is it in terms of ports and configuration. The installer doesn't know what he did with comms cable.

Just an update after 3 x months of use: Working nicely, no major issues. Have discovered an issue that bugs me, the BMS would not allow charge of batteries when above 90% SOC, only when battery SOC is below 90% it would charge to 100%. I end up going into low 90% on some days at 15:00 already with lots of PV available but not getting used to topup batteries.

Hi, could you get one, I also need one?

Esener uses same BMS as Volta and Taico batteries. And Volta has good manuals for the communication arrangements. You need to make the comm cable yourself. its RJ45 connectors and Cat5 cable. You will also need the software to switch the protocol on the battery BMS, the only software that works - TOPBMS 6.1
Still, it's no guaranty that communication will be established. Because sometimes the firmware of the inverter might be not compatible or settings on the BMS itself might be not suitable. My inverter see my Junlee batteries (same BMS) via RS485, LIB setting, and Darfon protocol only (as advised by Taico)  but shows warning 60 (battery is not allowed to charge or discharge).

on page 32 of the esener 5.5kw manual there is also showing of the pin point of the cable, so if you can get  RJ45 connectors and Cat5 cable you should be sorted. As for the communication, what Inverter are you using? as far as i know they have different protocol for different inverters (if you are using Esener inverter you dont need to worry much), there is also tutorial on youtube if you are struggling with it.

I know that you can also ask Esener to help you install the BMS tool as well to establish communication
