June 26, 20233 yr Hi All Seeking some advice during loadshedding. I have (8kva Deye Inverter, 2 x Dyness 5.12kwh Lithium and 10 JA Solar panels 550w) first week. Everything in my home is connected to the inverter except the oven. Last night during load shedding, the inverter kept tripping (F56 error) My load did not exceed 2,5kw, at the time of tripping. I thought the inverter and batteries could handle a lot more than that. My installer says that I cannot run the heat pump, or other heavy equipment during load shedding times at night.( I need two more batteries for that) Is this correct? I have researched the F56 error, but have no solid solution for my specific system. Also does this F56 tripping damage anything? Regards

Basically not enough instantaneous power available from the battery. Your 8kW Deye can in theory handle up to its rated output, but your 2 Dyness batteries cannot. Basically your system is throttled to 5kW due to your choice and type and number of batteries. Here it would be interesting to know the make and model and specs of your heat pump, to know what power it draws on startup versus how much it draws under normal operating conditions. It's possible that the initial surge of the heat pump is causing the tripping, but that after the startup, it may possibly run at a low enough power. Especially if it's during the day and you've got sunlight, and if you've got maybe a heat pump power draw of under 2kW, it would be a waste to have the sunlight to heat your water but no water heating functioning. Maybe you could time it to start 5 minutes before loadshedding from the grid, but then cruise along on the panels. Or else maybe you could start it up while there are no other loads running, and only then turn the rest of the loads on. Just thinking out loud.

Having 2 should be good for 100A. As indicated if the running load is about 2.5kW and the heat pump starts it could exceed the 100A available from said batteries. This problem could also be specific to the model and make of heat pump. Mine never goes over 1.5kW as an inverter start type and runs well even from a 24V inverter with or without solar. Its an old ITS heat pump 4.7kW (Specs attached)I connected it to a CBI smart switch thus it only comes on based on the timing. (trying to figure out a way to program it to be off during load shedding but still keep it connected to the inverter to make the most of the PV panels during the day) Have switched it off during load shedding tonight, and not a single glitch! Also it seems like the load never exceeded 3kW when it tripped last night. I did not expect to be throttled by the batteries and a bit disappointed.

I have the exact same heat pump and it should have an inverter start which means it should not exceed the 5.8A 1170W at any time but mine does go up to 1500W after many years. I think you must get the PCB checked out as it could have problem. You can also get the current checked during starting. If the load never exceeded 3kW when tripped I belief we getting back to settings for battery power. Check your battery setting that it does show discharge set at 100A and not 50A that is used for 1 battery. Edited June 26, 20233 yr by Scorp007
June 27, 20233 yr Author Hi @Scorp007. last night just before loadshedding ended. I started the heat pump. It slowly ramped up from 200W to aprox 1200W and the inverter did not trip. I think the base laod may have been a bit higher on Sunday when it did trip. I do think it is as @GreenFields has suggested that the batteries are causing the bottleneck. How do I work out what my maximum load during load shedding? @Scorp007 i will double check the discharge settings on the battery tonight.

Recommended normal discharge for the Dyness battery is 50A per battery, call it 100A for the two, at approx 50V. That's a 5kW power delivery give or take (100A x 50V = 5000W). It can surge higher for short periods, but the BMS should prevent over-current by disconnecting the batteries. Or else if you are limiting your discharge lower than 100A in the battery settings, you should be able to safely increase it to the manufacturer's recommended 50A each, or 100A. The Deye inverter can handle up to 8.8kW or 190A. You could add one or two more of the same batteries to make fuller use of the inverter's capabilities during loadshedding, if you feel you need it.

You can look on the graphic display showing you the power used for loads, what the battery is supplying and what PV is supplying if LS is during the day.

Hi This is what my battery setting look like. Setup by installers. I am to scared to fiddle with any setting here.

With the discharge set too high the battery will switch off instead of the inverter limiting the value below 100A. Get the installer out and show him/her this portion of the specs on the battery. X2 for 2 batteries.
June 27, 20233 yr If in doubt, hit the battery icon on the main screen, bottom left. Then on the Batt screen, hit the Li-BMS in the bottom right. Then check in the Li-BMS page what the battery is telling the inverter the discharging and charging current can be. My guess is, 100A charging and discharging. And I suspect that your installer set the discharge too high and the charging possibly too low. But also do check with the installer before changing it, because he installed the wiring and fuses to support this current. Should be okay, but I don't want to assume it is.
June 27, 20233 yr This means that your system is limited to just 2.5kW before you can expect it to trip. Try this out, turn off the mains switch, add loads bit by bit up to 2.5kW or just over, and see at what point it trips. And then I'd suggest to call your installer back and/or explain why the BMS limit is 50A and not at least 100A. I wonder whether the Dyness batteries are installed correctly in parallel, maybe whether the dip switch settings are correct. Here I'm not the right person to ask, maybe rather search the forum a bit more on this type of topic, or try finding someone who has two Dyness batteries operating correctly in parallel. Bottom line, though, I don't think your problem is your heat pump.
June 27, 20233 yr AFAIK for the Dyness and Deye/Solis/Sunsynk you have switch 3 on the master on and the other off. Then on the 2nd battery all the DIP switches are off.
