August 17, 20233 yr Can some please explain to me what is happening to my inverter. I basically get it on a daily basis, and my installers cant figure it out either. I think it has something todo with the EPS. But i am not 100% sure. Not sure if it helps but i have a Shotto 5kwh battery My settings are as follows Application Settings EPS Voltage Set(V) = 230 PV&AC Take Load Jointly = Enabled Charge Settings Charge Current Limit(Adc) = 110 AC Charge = According to Time AC Charge Start Time 1 = 00:00 AC Charge End Time 1 = 23:59 Generator Charge Generator Charge Type = According to Battery SOC Generator Charge Battery Current(A) = 30 Generator Charge Start Battery SOC(%) = 20 Generator Charge End Battery SOC(%) = 100 Max. August 17, 20233 yr All speculation: Is this Shoto not a 0.5C battery? Or have they got a 1C version? Could tell better from a model number. Try to set the battery charge and discharge limits to 50A DC, which is what the "typical" Shoto 0.5C normally takes. The BMS charge limit is showing a 0A maximum charge rate, so I hope that doesn't mean you've damaged anything by overcharging.
August 17, 20233 yr @R4nc1dDid your installer do the latest firmware version update if not they need to do firmware update as that sounds like reset relay clicking on and off. EPS is the output voltage of the inverter in islanding and is correct at 230v. Did the installer do a hard reset of the inverter. 1.Switch Eskom power off. 2.Isolate pv from inverter. 3.Disconnect battery from inverter. Wait for 15 minutes for caps to discharge. Reverse procedure but before connecting battery pre-charge inverter before connecting battery.

It is worth repeating to use a 22 to about 100 ohm resistor or as @TaliaB mentioned recently to charge the battery via a 230V 60/100W filament bulb.

I honestly thought this might have just been a setup issue on myside.

I don't know this inverter really, I'm just picking up some possible discrepancies between the spec sheet of the battery, and the settings/readings on thd app. For example, why is the inverter seemingly trying to charge at 53.2V on the app while the battery is supposed to charge at between 54.0-56.4V? Is it trying to charge according to lead-acid settings at 57V as per your image above under charge settings? That's where you'll find the discharge limit setting, below your red circle. Something maybe for the installer to check. More questions than answers.
August 17, 20233 yr Author @GreenFields definitely good questions that i will rely to the installer. But on the Lead Acid note, the battery setting is lithium Ion, so i dont think the Lead Acid setting is applicable. I can only assume that it is trying to charge at 53.2V because the Charge Type is Set to "According to Battery SOC", I can try changing it to According to Battery Voltage Would the Generator Charge Start Battery Voltage(V) = 54.0 and the Generator Charge End Battery Voltage(V) = 56.4

I upgraded to a SunSync. 🙂 I assume SunSynk inverter and not SunSynk battery? To me it seems as if the inverter may need to be sent back to the distributor for a warranty claim if all settings are correct and it's able to draw sufficient power from PV and/or battery to power the load.
