For example, your Surfix cable can actually be run underground up to just short of 1M (if memory serves), courtesy of metal stiffening etc. It also has superior insulation characteristics. So if non SABS cable are much cheaper one wonders if they conform to the bare minimum specs.
October 9, 20232 yr If there is a big difference in price, the cheaper one is probably not solid copper, which makes up the bulk of the cost. (Most likely copper clad aluminium.)
October 9, 20232 yr The non SABS surfix is not copper wire, but more a copper tinned wire and the pvc is of sub standard grade that will not stand the test of time.
