I agree with Kalahari Meerkat. Your Maximum power will be limited by your worst performing panel in the series arrangement, in this case the 13.1A panel. You likely will never such current (you probably already know based on past performance how much current your PV array outputs). It should be fine. Typically currents must be matched in series arrangements, voltages are matched in parallel.

If the total Voltage for the string is still within specs of you MPPT/Charge controller, then it should be fine, the current on the new panels might restrict the power a little bit, but its probably ignorable... 13.18A STC vs 13.1A STC, the voltage is higher, though, 39.8V vs 42V, but I'd imagine you hardly ever, if ever, see the 13.18A MP, so I doubt you'd notice this... I am assuming your existing 2 strings are series strings and thus they potentially have 47.1V * 5 as ocV, which is 235.5V, with another new panel added in series you have an ocV of 285.35V or so, as long as this is still within specs, you'd be good to go...

For me to save average of 2kw grid consumption per day, will cost met about R30k + in extra battery expense. I dont think its worth it for me. But when the grid is down I can switch of 1 fridge and move its contents into the other. Then we"ll be 99.9% there.
Have we as humans got so used to all the luxuries that we cannot make 1 or 2 small sacrifices when the shtf? I wonder.

If there is a big difference in price, the cheaper one is probably not solid copper, which makes up the bulk of the cost. (Most likely copper clad aluminium.)

Jeppe reacted to Gerrie in Sabs surfix mains cable
The non SABS surfix is not copper wire, but more a copper tinned wire and the pvc is of sub standard grade that will not stand the test of time.

This battery has been tested with the following. inverters.

Does it also work with SVolt 5.09Kwh 106ah batteries?
I’m asking, because if you would know if it communicates with Victron, Sunsynk, INVT, Mega Revo, Deye, Growatt and a few more. Its sends CCl, DCl and charge voltage correctly like the CHINT 106ah battery?
I received mine unit 2 days ago. Haven’t tested comms yet. Got all those inverters except Deye in my Test/Training room, just need to move the battery from inverter to inverter. Its a bit disappointing that they moved a batch of 15cell into the market though they have 16cells available.
The one they have available now is 48volt 15Cell, I am after the 51.2volt 16Cell.
    replied back.
Coms tested on DCL, CCl and charge voltage on Victron, Sunsynk, Mega Revo, INvt. Working as expected.

So the SVolt 5.09Kwh 106ah works on BMS with all the listed inverters above (bar the Deye was'nt tested, but will work I'm sure).

One of the other good options I have seen lately is Solarway Suppliers. Canadians 545W for R2639. I have been to their shop and they are legitimate.

I have personally bought Jinko 550W panels from Leroy Merlin last week for R2399 per panel. That works out at R4.36/W for brand new Tier 1 panels. And on top of that, they charge only R65 for delivery. Hardly even worth putting petrol and going with your bakkie to collect.
Oh and besides that, they have 6 months return policy. So, if I see something even cheaper, I can still return them and buy elsewhere, if they haven't been installed.
Would you like to see the invoice?

But anyway, good luck with the sale.

PowerForum Store is now selling Canadian Solar 545W panels at R3063 incl VAT, call it R5,62/W for a brand new tier1 panel out of the box, and that's before the 25% SARS tax rebate on new panel purchases you can claim in the next tax year. Sorry, but respectfully, a lot has changed since a year ago.

I can't see it. But maybe somebody had solar installed and coincidentally their geyser element popped a couple of days later (and would have anyway). So when something goes wrong, a quite natural question to ask is "what changed?".

I thought the same thing as the naming structure was completely different to what was on the logger however deye confirmed it was for the logger.
I did the update and it fixed my issue of the logger going offline.
I don't have any disconnects for weeks now.

Not sure I would recommend switching off fridges/freezes due to possible food issues.
When the device comes on, it will need to run for a while to get the temperature back to the thermostat setting, negating some of the savings.

Below is the electricity consumption for my 300L vertical fridge and 300L vertical freezer - they overfull.
    I would save 0.41kWh (MAX)

Art Solar, ah thanks for the reply seems we're producing the same output. I was just wondering if it was underperforming.
    Today's production was 28kwh

  24. Thanks
Jeppe reacted to Scorp007 in Solar Panel Production
Your output is spot on for this time of the year as others have also indicated. My peak production in Gauteng over the last week was on 1Aug at 83% and your figure indicated is only 7% less. This is where the positioning can come into play as well as variables caused by make and area. For this 83% I am excluding the cloud edge peaks we got on 2 Aug as it only lasts for a brief moment and that was at about 100%.
As we move into summer you will see higher yields when no clouds. We all tend to question the output we get on new installs expecting more.
@zsde is achieving very high yields due to his angle which is optimised for winter production. It is interesting when we compare yields from time to time. My 28 deg angle is also doing remarkably well during winter vs summer.

Tried to get this done via the Solarman app using the setup process there (normal and quick), nothing worked. Decided to ask our friend Google and came across this video:
Connected to my AP, went to the web address on my phone. Accessed with the username / pwd and set it up from the menu there. Worked first time! At least if anyone else have similar issues here is a solution 🙂
