New firmware for Axpert Max ii 10KW

Featured Replies

So finally I managed to upload the firmware...

A successful upload was made using a 4-wire serial cable, connected as shown in this tutorial (https://youtu.be/6F5HPOZJapI?si=UaCU8iVJOkT1-UN3) using an older laptop with a serial port. I didn't have a resistor on the cable. At first I was unable to establish a connection via the serial line, but I was able to start uploading via USB to Micro USB cable quite easily. Originally, I turned on the inverter by connecting the battery. Subsequently, I switched to switching on by connecting the grid (the battery was disconnected). And now perhaps the most important trick - procedure:
1) Connect the notebook with 2 cables, a serial line and a USB to micro USB cable - leave both cables connected at the same time.
2) Start the inverter so that the PC can see the USB device.
3) Run the upgrade utility, set the upgrade via usb.
4) Start the updating and wait until it ends with an error, but we don't mind, the circle around the display will flash red.
5) Do not close the utility, but switch it to the appropriate COM port where the serial cable is connected.
6) Turn off the inverter, the inverter goes silent but the display still flashes red.
7) Turn on the inverter and within 2 or 3 seconds start the upload via the COM port. At this point, the display was already booted up and could immediately receive commands from the serial line.

As soon as the recording over the serial line started, everything came well to end and the inverter woke up with the new firmware. Tomorrow I will test how it handles all-day fog and whether the 90V bug is really removed.

So hopefully this procedure will also help someone. I don't know if this procedure ensured the connection via the COM port or if it was just luck with the timing... Anyway, I don't want to try it again ;)
Anyway, I can confirm that the firmware works on the inverter with the original version dsp 82.01 and 122.12. now I have 82.63 + 122.12

hello coulomb, could you please modify fw 82.63 because my problem with 90v was not solved, but the voltage just moved a few volts higher, see attachment

The PV production is looking OK for a dismal day, except that the current threshold seems way too high, at around 0.8 A. That's assuming that your top graph is MPPT2 voltage.

I'll see how my time goes.

Thanks for the recent firmware update files.

Hi Coulomb,

last firmware published by Danilo is ok for my Voltronic Inverter ? (see pic in attachment)
Can I use original data cable that I've found with inverter or I must use 4 wires cable with resistor ?

Thanks.

Yes. all the 82.xx firmwares should be compatible with your model that has 82.05 now. The latest and the only one with the MPPT fix is 82.63. I recommend using the RAR file from this post, that keeps all the files together, and makes it less likely that the wrong file will accidentally get used.

Thanks a lot, Coulomb.

I've appreciate your support.

I will update this post soon.

Nothing to do.

Tried all possibilities, baudrate, usb/RS232 converter, compatibility mode (Win7, 8 & XP)

Always this message.

What's wrong ?

All is done !

Uploaded firmware by USB OTG. RS232 don't work with my laptop.

MCU upload by RS232 19200 bps.

After update firmware get error 32....was crying...:-)

With MCU updated and total restart of inverter (disconnect PV and batteries) all ok.

Thanks so much Coulomb !!!

I just updated today my max II 10kVA inverter to 82.63 using a direct usb-c to microusb cable between my laptop and the inverter. I did not succeed with the usb drive I got error U03. with the cable I choose the usb com port and all went good.

I think that using the USB menu (pressing the appropriate keys on the display) puts the USB port into host mode, where it expects to talk to a "peripheral" such as a USB stick.

Using a standard USB cable, the USB port presumably defaults to peripheral mode, so that the PC can be the host and they can communicate.

This is probably the best way to connect between PC and inverter, since there is no USB to serial adapter required, and some adapters are not compatible. However, this only works IF the reflash tool has the USB "port" option. I think that many of the reflash tools for the '2809 chip do NOT have this option. Most if not all reflash tools for the '28066 processor use the Arena reflash tool, which seems to be more recent, and has the USB  "port" option.

yes, I will certainly also update the display firmware, and the lcd upload tool does not have the usb com port possible. so I have to find a usb to serial adapter that works...

I have the max II 10k I can't communicate in any way with the com port. but I can communicate

via pc with the microusb port. is there a way to update the firmware from the microusb port?

The firmware likely won't fix a complete lack of communication via the PC (RS-232) port.

* Are you using the supplied RJ-45  (this is NOT an ethernet port) to RS-232 cable?

* Is this plugged into a known-compatible USB to RS-232 cable?

As for updating via the USB port, yes, the main firmware can be updated; you need a suitable cable and a USB stick with the firmware on it, and no other files. But only the main (U1, DSP) firmware can be updated using this port. To update the display/communications firmware, you need to use the PC/RS-232 port and cables as indicated above.

Buenos dias,

Please post in English on this forum.

Good morning, does anyone have the 82.07 firmware for a 10kw Axpert Max 2? I have two inverters of this type, one has firmware 82.02 and the other 82.07. I want to parallelize them but it hasn't worked for me... I understand that it's because the firmware is different. Can anyone help me with this? As I see it, I should match the firmware to the newest... but I want to consult with you, if I'm correct, and if you can share the tools to do it without running the risk of blocking anything... Thank you very much!

I don't have 82.07, but there is 82.06 in this thead; don't bother downloading the tmp (temporary) files, as these are automatically generated.

https://powerforum.co.za/topic/24190-new-firmware-for-axpert-max-ii-10kw/#findComment-187125

I actually doubt that the differences between 82.02 and 82.07 would prevent paralleling; it's probably some other issue (e.g. cabling). What fault code comes up when you try to parallel?

Edit: If you have trouble with the "stuck at 90 V" issue, you are probably better off updating both inverters to firmware version 82.63, which has the "presumed good" MPPT logic, and is 6 months later than 82.06. For whatever reason, 10 kW firmwares are more rare than others.

Hola, ¿Cuál es la falla de los 90Volt?, ¿cómo se presenta?

Please post in English here.

Hello, what is the 90V fault? How does it manifest itself?

Most factory firmwares leave the PV voltage too low even when the PV current increases enough to allow a higher PV voltage, and hence higher PV power. So the PV voltage is "stuck" at the minimum MPPT voltage, which for Axpert Max models is 90V. Other models can be stuck as low as 60V, some at 120V.

The result is lower than normal PV production. Most days, this reduces production by up to 50% or more for the first and last hours of sunlight. On cloudy days when you often need all the PV power possible, it can be reduced almost the entire day. Other days it might make little difference.

To test if it's happening, isolate the panels momentarily. Usually, PV production will then return to where it should be, with the PV voltage near the Maximum Power Point.

User Georg594 figured out patches for an older 8kW firmware, then "ported" the patches to a few other models. I've been porting these patches to several other models since.

Part of the patching involves choosing a new minimum PV voltage. That means that there isn't a "one size fits all" patched firmware for any particular model. So each patched firmware file now comes out as a set of patched firmwares.

A few factory firmwares have what I've been calling the "presumed good" MPPT algorithm. This seems to work a lot better than standard factory firmwares, but for some reason these don't seem to last and are not common. The patched firmwares seem to perform slightly better than these presumed good factory firmwares anyway. But this means that every time a new firmware is released by Voltronic, users have to choose between updating and losing the MPPT performance, or waiting until I or someone else gets around to patching the new firmware. Each patched firmware set takes me about 2 hours of work.

Hi mdaverio,
did you succeed?

I have same inverter from SP24
