November 7, 20232 yr We have a new 48v(15 cell) svolt which seems to be working ok.(29 charge cycles so far) Problem lies in balancing cell08 - at lower voltages, (3.3v) cell is on par with other cells, but can sit at 3.364v while others are at 3.521V (157mV) lower. Should I worry about the imbalance, or will they balance out over time? I have no idea which type of balancer svolt is using. i. e. active or passive.

I had a similar issue with my Svolt battery, with the Pace BMS I believe it is a passive balancer and if the BMS goes into OVP it will continue to balance the cells and overtime the cells should end up balanced. This can take quite a bit of time though as the balancer is rather slow. Of course, if there is an issue with that cell and it never balances then reach out to Svolt and they must assist and sort it out for you. Here you can see the cell imbalances: Then afterwards this is where it was at, not perfect but a lot better: I have not checked recently though. You can change your inverter to charge via voltage if you want to try and force it to balance in OVP. Unfortunately majority of commercial battery BMS's do not have the best balancers and they are mostly (if not all?) passive balancers. JK have released an "Inverter BMS" which has their active balancer - will be great if battery manufacturers started using this in the future.
November 25, 20232 yr Hi psyclown, I have a new 48V S Bolt battery and seems one of the cells are on a higher voltage when charging and the BMS goes into OVP once it reached the bulk charging of 52.4V. Will this rectify itself after a while?

Will this rectify itself after a while? It should do so within a week. I'm running 2 of the same batteries. One for 2 months, and the 2nd for a week now. Before connecting the 2nd, I made sure that both batteries were fully charged. After 1 week of running, all 30 cells were within 0.002v, each battery cells within 0.001v
