January 2, 20242 yr Morning all! Happy New Year!! I'm new on the forum and have recently upgraded my system from just a battery back up (Synapse 5kw inverter and 4 x 100AH lead acid batteries) to PV with a Greenrich 5KW battery using old Synapse inverter. This system has it's limitations but serves my needs for now. The question I have is, where/how can I dispose of the old batteries? I'm in the Randburg area of Joburg. Battery Centre Selby offered me R100/battery which seems quite low considering they're 30kg each.

January 2, 20242 yr Scrap battery prices are down a lot. Used to get R12 per kg for scrap batteries. Going rate is R7 to R6 per kg.

January 3, 20242 yr One for the guys with lots of brain cells. What is the difference between iron and steel? This due to the scrap value of each. @PVPete I take it the R100 is if you don't buy a new battery. Battery Centre pay R300 when you trade in on a new battery. Edited January 3, 20242 yr by Scorp007
