Hi. I am new to this forum.

I currently have a Axpert/Mecer 5kVa, 48V inverter which is working perfectly fine for almost 4 years now. It is selected for SBU with the batteries cut off at 49V.

What I don't like is that it does not have the ability to share the load with the grid if PV cannot meet the demand. The load switch in total to utility if batteries get to 49V and it does take some time to switch back to PV.

I am looking at the Infinisolar V series (black) which does have this function at a fairly reasonable price. I however does not know if it is selected for SBU priority (same as my current Mecer) and the batteries get to 49V what will it do. Will the load be shared between PV and utility and batteries charged by PV at the same time?

Hope someone have this inverter installed to share some experience with these settings.

Yes, Infini V is able to do what you say. It has an advantage, that is that injects to grid+load, so, not all the energy necessary for loads  pass throuhg inverter. Then, if you have a 6 kw load, 2 comes from grid and 4 from Infini.

The conts are, like other older Axperts, the 60 V limit, float bugs...

Also, you can´t set the max battery current when a load is fed by Inverter+Grid.

I installed the 5kva V series and disabled function to feed back to grid. With this setup does it still share load between available PV and utility when load exceeds available PV? I use SolarPower 1.14 and it does seem that way. When connecting to the inverter "My power management" disappears under device control. I assume this mode settings is not possible for the V series. Is this correct?

Yes, it will share loads between grid and solar even if you have net metering disabled assuming 01 is set to SUB.

Thanks. So if set to SBU, will it still share between solar and utility after "battery stop discharging voltage when grid is available" (setting 20) is reached? Mine is currently set as SBU with 20 set as 49V, just to make use of the batteries slightly.

The Infinisolar V is a hybrid inverter, i.e. similar to the other Infinisolar models. The main difference is that it has an ELV (Extra Low Voltage, usually taken as ≤ 120 VDC) MPPT (or two). The upper end of the MPPT voltage range is 115 V, similar to many (but not all) of the Axperts. So if you like it's an Infini with one or two solar charge controllers from the Axpert range.

I just looked up "Axpert V" on the Voltronic Power website, and up came nine models. But these don't have a lone "V" in the name; they have the prefixes "VM" (for Value line Mppt) or "VP" (for Value line Pwm). The Axperts are all what Voltronic call "off-grid" models (which can be used on-grid, but don't need to be).

So is there a difference between th Infinisolar V and the Infinisolar Plus 5k?

why would you rather have the lower ratings on the MPPT?
