March 2, 20242 yr Hello, I have an Axpert Max 2 11Kw TWIN, and I would like to increase this battery charging capacity (if possible). This is limited to 150A (rather 141A really), around 8kW, and in certain conditions my home only consumes 300W while solar production can reach the maximum, i.e. 11kW. there is therefore a loss of energy. I have an adc7480/72/E 3200W battery charger and I would like to add it as a backup charger using the AC output of the inverter. I know this is not the ideal setup but can it work without problem? I checked the insulation of the inputs/outputs of this charger, and apparently it is indeed an isolated model. As this charger is limited to 42 amps, I will program it so that it turns on when the battery load of the inverter exceeds 100 amps and that it turns off when the battery load drops below 50 amps. At full power with low consumption in my home I could charge the battery up to 180 amps. In your opinion, is an assembly of this type risky for the inverter? In the inverter manual it is clearly indicated that it is not isolated, but if the charger is isolated this should not pose a problem?

As you said it is counter productive to use your battery to inverter and supply AC to the AC charger which could use up to 40% more AC power than what it puts back into the battery. This 40% is a waste if you already find your inverter only charging 140A and want to increase it. Perhaps rather trigger the AC charger when you have a low like 300W load or combine it with available PV during sunshine. You don't mention if you have a grid connection. What am I missing?
March 2, 20242 yr Author Yes, I want to activate the second charger when consumption is low and the sunshine is strong. At this moment I only use 8kW (max power of the inverter charger) of solar power while the mppt/inverter/photovoltage panels can 11Kw. the second charger will be connected to the AC output of the inverter, to reach a total of 11000 W = house consumption (300W) + battery charge ((140+42A) X55.2V). so it would be possible to recharge the batteries of the inverter with a charger powered by the 230v produced by the inverter itself? no risk of returns? I don't really know the internal topology of this type of inverter the goal is not to use the battery to recharge the battery, I understand that this is not possible and useless, but to use the power not to use mppt (around 2.5kw) during full sun, to charge more via the AC output of the inverter. Due to the high temp of components when running at 11kW I would never want to run my inverter at 100% on a regular basis. One can compare it to a car that you keep the revs just below the red line. For sure the engine will be stressed much more than at say 75% of the rev range. Something will give way. Just my 2c.
March 4, 20242 yr Author I manage to limit the temperature to 48°C, with improved cooling at an mppt power of 10.8kW (8kW battery charge and 2600W for the AC water heater) but perhaps other components which are not monitored heat up more. It might be better to mount a second inverter in parallel. Besides on this subject is it possible to put the same model but which will possibly have another firmware in parallel? I bought mine a year and a half ago, no guarantee that the model being sold is exactly the same?

This means you will buy a 2nd one and upgrade to the same version to run in parallel.
March 5, 20242 yr Author So I would have to ask the seller for the firmware version before buying it(if I decide to buy one). I never found the firmware download or update anywhere for the Axpert MAX 2 11K TWIN...
