Hithium cells

Featured Replies

Good day,

I should have asked here first before ordering my 64 Hithium 280ah cells from my chinese connection :). What do you think of the Hithium cells, if anyone has got some of them. My previous order of 150 x EVE 105ah had no issues at all, not one of them.

I looked at the Apexium cells in SA, but that is not really cheap. I can get the EVE MB31 314ah for $71. My Hithium cells were $500 for shipping, customs and transport to Kempton park warehouse, that is for 64 cells which is about 380kg.

Anyway, I will be building a 14kw pack soon as the shipment arrives tomorrow.

Will keep you updated.

Cheers

GJ

Nice @GJ Cronje. Which enclosure and BMS do you plan to use?

I am using a powder coated metal box made for the cells and bms. BMS I will be testing is the JK energy storage bms with screen and ports (JK-PB1A16S10P). I am planning to build myself a "power wall" but need more time for that. Will have 44kw after adding this 14kw to my current setup. The rest will go to the people which cannot really afford solar and to maybe another golf cart in a wildlife estate.

Will have to order the next batch soon, might go for EVE or CATL again.

@GJ Cronje nice, would you mind sharing some pictures of the box.

Would you mind sharing your source for such a deal?

I meant this $500 was only for shipping, customs and transport. The cells were $42 per cell.

Will share details, they do everything, they have their own forwarding agent where you just pick up at the warehouse.

I assume that is for the 105Ah cells
Is it the same guys that also sell the EVE MB31 314ah for $71 as you mentioned in the first post?

Het jy bokse, of verkoop jy?

Ek moet dit bestel, word in Ptwon gemaak, moet nog iemand nader kry.

@GJ Cronje I used and sold some of the Seplos MASON 280 boxes. But currently seems too expensive due shipping overhead and prices that came down.
A friend of mine manufactured these boxes using 3mm aluminum:

The JBD 300A BMS was used on this.

No, this is for the 280ah Hithium cells, 64 of them. The 105ah eve cells are $32 from Minji.

@DeonBezLooks nice! Here is a box I used for a golf cart, but this was made by the buyer, mine is powder coated. But this is just for a certain type of cart, as they differ in size for all the different carts. Those wires are just for charging :)

Yeah that is quite pricey just for my 11kw 16 cell battery. But..... I am thinking of adding another 32 300ah cells and building a power wall

Good day.

I am in the process of ordering from this same guy when I saw this thread. GJ Cronje can you tell me if your previous order was from the same guy and did you receive your Hitium cells already? He has send me photos of boxes being delivered at a warehouse in Herman str in Meadowdale in Edenvale. In one of the photos there are a k& L courier truck with GP number plates. Is that the warehouse where you picked yours up.

Thanks

Good day. Can you tell me how long shipping took? My order left China around the 30th of August and the ship arrived in Durban on the 5th of October which gives me around 40 days. The ship left Durban on the 10th of october. The cells are still in customs and today is the 10th of november. That means the cells are in customs now for 25 days. This  makes the whole experience 15 days  from time of onder till shipping then 40 days at sea, 5 days for offloading and another 25 in customs which brings it to 80 days from day of order with still no delivery date. Did you have the same experience?

Hi, same here. Ordered equipment in August and still waiting for it. It can take up to six months, unfortunately. This is with DDP where they cover everything, as it first goes to the Chinese warehouse this side and then they have to get it through. Seems like customs are done scanning for the year, early Christmas. My 2nd order is also waiting at customs, lets see if this one goes faster.

That is really bad. I expected 45 to 50 days as promised and this is  already a month overdue. What worries me a lot is the possibility of this container standing in the sun the whole day while the cells overheat to (don't want to think about it) extreme temperatures.

Eish that doesn't sound good to be honest. Has there been any communication? 25 days in customs is not normal.

There is no communication on this side to get information. Only information comes from asking the sales person in China who in turn contacts the shipping agent who replies that its normal don't worry the order must remain for some time at customs.
