On one of the firmwares you have to keep trying to connect to over Bluetooth. Keep selecting it over and over and it will eventually connect. I also have the WhatsApp support number for seplos(same as the apexium BMS). DM me and I will share it

Solis S6 Pro Hybrid Inverter Review
I don't use the Solis app. I have it connected to my network via Phoenix's modbus integration which works brilliantly. So I maybe connect via the Solis cloud app once every 2-3months. I have the follow phone time enabled but I assume it needs the Solis cloud app to be used frequently. I have reached out to Solis SA and they updated everything but it still happens. Doesn't really bother me because it's not very frequent and it's so easy to rectify

30 panels to grid tied inverter
Ok great. This is very very helpful. So going with a 16kw single phase sunsynk will do the job and be future proof if I ever want to add batteries. Question on this. My understanding is that when I'm using a deye/sunsynk in grid tied mode the panels will do the heavy lifting and the balance needed will come from the grid. BUT when there is load shedding the panels won't help at all because the inverter will shut down. SO my thinking is that the generators should be connected to the inverter and would kick in to provide the 'grid' to the inverter. The panels would be back in operation and the generators would just be idling(on a sunny day)?? Am I on the right path?

My 6kw has been great. Only issue I have seen is every now and then the date doesn't change at midnight. It does eventually correct itself so just your stats are a little skewed. Happens once every 2-3months. No biggie. Other than that perfect, infact I've never seen it trip

Yeah I hear you about the Eskom hikes looming and no doubt panel prices will soon go up in price too. Because it's a business on single phase and we only require power during working hours my thinking would be to put in a system now that is scalable. We have have 2 X 8kva generators on site which do run everything but we generally only run one of them on essentials when it's load shedding. So then I don't really see the need for battery backup. I'm just not sure if a sunsynk/deye running in Grid Tie mode works exactly the same as a grid tie inverter. Is it possible to just feed the pv generated power back to the mains dB without any loads running through the inverter?

Ok great appreciate this feedback guys. Grid tie definitely seems to be the way to go as I want the panel power to only assist on top of the grid feed. I don't want the loads to be fed through the inverter. This exercise is mainly to bring down our electrical bill and to assist with power as we do sometimes trip our 60A breaker on a hot day when all 7 aircons are running. I'm thinking the Solis grid tie option is the way to go, I have a Solis s6 pro hybrid at my home installation and it's been flawless for the last 16months.

Sorry I should've been clearer there. I think I just need the solar to cover 2000-2500kwh per month of the electrical bill. Leaving a balance of 500-1000kwh to pay for. So I was thinking of 30 panels and a 10kw inverter which I can always expand on later. The sunsynk 10kw has 70A passthrough so it should handle the loads? Or to be safe use 2 X 8kw. Or the 16kw. Or 3 X 5kw grid tie inverter. Or micro inverters. I just can't see which is the better route to go. I just can't throw 150k at it for the easiest solution

Hey guys. Looking for some advice. Looking to add 30-40 panels to my business building. We're on single phase and using 3000 to 4000kwh per month. During work hours the building is using 40A of power consistently and peaks at 55A due to the air-conditioning. With the current panel pricing it makes sense to put in a grid tied system to assist with the load during the day and bring down our electrical bill, especially with the eskom hike coming. My question is, what inverter do you guys think will be best suited? I would like to be investing under 100k and have no need for battery backup. We have a 8kva generator for any outages. I really just need a recommendation on a grid tied inverter to use that's reliable and has a decent app to monitor.

Yeah i am liking the stepped approach but I think I must pull the trigger with panels asap. I have found a used 8kw sunsynk for 18k. Then i can always keep and eye out for another down the line. I can survive on a 8kw inverter, just run less lights etc through it. I am able to backfeed so even if the geysers and Aircons aren't connected to the inverter they can still run off eskom and then the excess sun will still feed these during the backfeeding. OR..... i go full hog and go with the 16kw Sunsynk inverter with 30 panels. 150k investment, future proof and the ROI would still be around 36months(no batteries). which is still unbelievable!

Ah thanks that answers my 3 phase question. At these panel prices it just makes sense as the roi can be within 36 months. I might consider looking at some 2nd hand options. Like 2 x 8kw sunsynks for under 40k that would get the install to around 100k without batteries. That gets the roi to around 30 months. I would also be future proof with the ability to add batteries

The 16kw is a beast. Ticks all the boxes but possibly overkill and will stretch the roi. I was considering the OG7.2 and running 2 of them. Only issue is they are designed for off-grid and don't support our grid code. So during load shedding or outages the unit will just be feeding back to the grid. I'm thinking the pure grid tied machines are the way to go. The business has always been on a lucky power grid where even on stage 6 we never had loads shedding during business hours. We have a 8kva backup generator which has done less than 20hrs in 2 years!

Awesome I'll have a look at the Solis grid tied range. Can these be paralleled like the hybrids? My hybrid at home is a 6kw Solis and it has been flawless, Solis support is on point as well. Another option to consider multiple micro inverters but seems a more expensive route

I've been very happy with my home solar installation, just from a cost savings perspective, and now looking at the price of panels I am wanting to install some panels at the work premises. My thinking is to install 30 panels. I don't need battery backup this would be to purely to reduce the electricity bill which is around R5000pm. The business is on a single phase line and consumes roughly 2000kw a month and it has the good ol' reverse spinning meter from 1970, the same as I have at home. What inverter type would you recommend? Hybrid wont work because it requires a battery to function so I would think an on-grid or grid tie inverter Love to hear some thoughts

I'm looking for something similar to this but I am not on prep paid. I would just like a simple counter that mimics my actual meter reading so I can view it in ha. Ie: if I can input my current meter reading and then it will continue to count based on my 'total consumed entity' in HA.

I had the same question a year ago. Harvey tile make a specific bracket. I think it's pricey for what it is but wow they work perfectly and extremely simple to install. You don't drill holes into your tiles so there's no water sealing issues. I got mine off take a lot. How much Eskom do you use now?
Our house consumes 30-40kw per. Pv generates 25-35kw per day but the geyser alone uses 15-20kw per day. Quite scary. Granted the geyser is on 24/7, I don't use any timers or smart switch trickery. I do plan to add my solar geyser(non pressurized) as a pre-feed to my electric geyser. I already have the solar geyser but every plumber I have asked has said this is not possible???
