September 16, 20241 yr Hi all, considering getting one of these. I saw in an older thread that in Home Assistant there is no way to set the depth of discharge. Is that still the case or is there a workaround using MQTT or something? I coming from a Goodwe 4.6kW so if anyone has experience with the Solis and Goodwe and can highlight any potential deal breakers I would appreciate it
November 1, 20241 yr That's the nice thing about open source software. If you want a feature that is missing - you can add it yourself.

Ok so the vibe I'm getting is that this isn't an out of the box ready to go solution? Seems like getting it connected to HA is challenge on it's own. I'm not a programmer.
February 11, 20251 yr I am a bit late to the party, but you would want https://github.com/Pho3niX90/solis_modbus

You can set automations, which are more powerfull than the built in solis functions. You can turn battery reserve off, and change the TOU to discharge. For depth of discharge, I believe that is overdischarge in solis terms, which has an ongrid, and offgrid value. I would need a use case scenario

Do you have a list of the entities that are available from the Home Assistant integration?

There are currently around 380 entities, switches, inputs, etc. The majority is listed here, but needs updating since there were just over a hundred added in the last week: https://solis-modbus.readthedocs.io/en/latest/index.html
February 12, 20251 yr I was initially set on going with the Solis inverters when I upgrade but the HA integration seemed a bit iffy and limiting which put me off. @Pho3niX90 How has your experience been and would you recommend the Solis inverters, if one specifically wants to look at integrating into HA or would you say other inverters are perhaps a better idea. I recall the info you get in HA will always be delayed by about 5 minutes or so? Luxpower integration is fantastic and you still get access to the app & web-interface which they have been improving. Sunsynk works well and easily too. Luxpower do not have 8KW inverters so you're forced to go for much larger inverters. Sunsynk is a bit pricier compared to the Solis. I wish Luxpower had a passively cooled model. Is that 5min delay not due to using the cloud? Can you not get faster polling locally?

I can definitely recommend them. I am heavily invested at this point, since I am maintaining that plugin. Compared to the Deye/Sunsynk, they are pretty much the same, with the Solis having an extra 1kw headroom, and more PV potential. They have also been upgrading the software on the inverter side, to allow more TOU timeslots etc. The local solis support, is also amazing! They have been very active in replying to emails, and helping to sort out issues. As far as the rate of data flow into HA goes, it updates every 15 seconds, you can change settings from within HA as well only the flow, by either the control switches, or via automations. The idea of the integration is to eliminate the need for the solis app, however, I am busy beta testing breaking the modbus connection periodically to sync to the cloud. Yes there are, I can hear them when there is around 3-4KW solar, and house load is around 3kw

Before installing my understanding was that there weren't fans, so didn't properly investigate the heatsinks. The heatsink is pretty large and covers most of the back part, fans kick in around 46c and brings down temps around 40ish.
