Deye 8kW inverter settings

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently installed an 8kW Deye hybrid inverter paired with 2 x Dyness Powerbox 10kWh.
I have 2 questions:
In the Deye settings  the limit for discharge seems to be 34%, while I expected to be more adjustable, perhaps down to 20% or as low as 10%. I am aware having DOD of 90% isn't great for the batteries. Can I reduce it to 20%?

The Dyness batteries were supplied with a wi-fi dongle, V100 with a male RJ11 plug. Does anyone know where it plugs into please? I can't see anywhere externally on the boxes.

Thank you

it is in the, 'time of use' setting

Go check the value under the battery setting menu. That there is the baseline/universal/global setting of maximum discharge on your setup.

It is valid whether you run in time-of-use mode or as a ups. Not 100% sure if this would solve your issue.

There is a place in the settings that specifies voltages for low battery cutoff. I’ll be dealing with this myself in about two weeks.

I’ll try to comply with the “20% rule” but I’m not going to obsess over it. If I lose some cycles, so be it, I suspect my batteries will calendar age to end of life before I wear them out from cycling.

💯 correct

All rules regarding degradation factors were tested in labs where the battery charged and discharged dozens of times in one day

but for normal use , you are 💯 right

I’ve seen the specs on some batteries say something like 6000 cycles at 80% DoD, 5000 cycles at 90% DoD. The info I’ve found online about that is absolutely all over the map, from issuing dire warnings about discharging past 20% and others showing graphs indicating it just not that dramatic. The batteries I’m getting say “Up to 100%” for DoD, whatever the hell that means.
