Solar Assistant RS485 cable crimp

Featured Replies

Hi Mark, hopefully someone will come back to you.

I've connected my solis s6 via the wifi dongle to solar assistant but that blocks the Solis cloud from receiving the data. Also just to note that solar assistant at this stage doesn't have power management functions.

I have the same problem. I am currently connected with the WiFi dongle but then yes soliscloud no longer updates and you cannot remotely control. That is why I want to rather use the cable to hopefully get around this issue.

Watching to see if you get the answer go help us both...I only use the solar assistant as it's real time and my wife can understand hhe display. Solis is a bit to complex for the untrained eye..

I did actually get the info from Solis on Friday about what pins to crimp the rs485 wires into. Just need to order the cable from solar assistant and find someone to crimp it for me

I have attached what Solis sent me. Solar assistant actually confirmed it for me. I asked about the earth wire and they said that's not needed.

So I will confirm if this works when I get cable and find someone who can crimp for me and I will report back

Just an update.

I asked Solar Assistant if they would be able to crimp the cable for me. They obliged. So R689 for the cable, crimping and delivery overnight. Pins 4 and 5 were crimped exactly as above.

Cable works great and SolisCloud now updates via the dongle again.

So the RS485 cable is definitely the best option for SolarAssistant since it will keep SolisCloud communication intact for ease of changing settings and receiving alarms

Hi Mark, do you have any assess to the automations? I see there are some interesting developments coming soon with forecasted PV yields, a step toward AI of simple inverters. I'm afraid there aren't enough Solis inverters out there to benefit solar assistant in developing with Solis. I see many other inverters which have come along after that have been updated with automations.
