Sunsynk timer and battery question

Featured Replies

I have a three phase supply im on grid with a 12kW sunsynk three phase unit.

Can anyone explain why the inverter doesn't charge from the grid per the timer if my ev is pulling the charge from the grid.

I have set my timer to charge if below 60%

you can see the battery settings and you can see it discharging the battery yet if I ramp the power down on the ev (Tesla 3 phase) the battery then starts to charge.

is almost like the sunsynk discharges if the grid load is above the 12kw rating , its doing my head in, I want to charge at 18kw in the car and the battery at the same time.

This can be seen where if I ramp the car down it sits just charging if I ramp it up the battery discharges

any ideas

Further to my testing if the inverter is set to charge mode and the car pulls more than 12kW the inverter pushes instead of pulling.

So

Discharge above 60% is set, battery is 58%

car is pulling under 12 kw, inverter charges battery.

car pulls over 12kw battery stops charging and pushes instead of just charging as requested

Your EV charger is most likely pulling 18 kW across three phases from the grid (likely using a smart wallbox or similar). Your Sunsynk inverter is limited to 12 kW of total throughput (combined across phases), even if grid is available. The inverter prioritizes supplying loads first, and only charges the battery if there’s spare capacity. When the EV is pulling more than the inverter can handle (>12kW), the inverter stops charging the battery or worse, starts discharging it to try cover the excess load, despite a grid connection.

Yes but why is it doing that when it is in a charge mode it should just pull from the grid to charge itself otherwise how am I supposed to charge the EV without using the battery.

in my solis I just set charge between 23:30 and 05:30 and it does exactly that, this new system discharges when it shouldn't

Is the Ev charger supply connected before the inverter ct coils on the mains incoming supply?

I take it you want your inverter to work like this in the pic. Today I had 2 elec stove plates on for over 6hrs. Grid use is in brown. The battery was still charging from PV and the battery was kept at a certain minimum SOC. PV was low after about 14h00 due to cloud.

Grid consumption in brown.

Today was my highest daily consumption since installing the Deye.

Perhaps some settings need to be changed on your side.
