3 weeks ago I decided to drill for water and found more than I can use. I equipped the hole and closed municipality supply to my home completely. So far there is no signs of excess iron ,, nice clean sweet tasting water. I would however like to have it tested as a safety precaution. Where do I start?

I guess the results of the test will determine if any filters are needed.

 

Any advice?

Jaco, just ask around. The people who do your town water reticulation should be able to help.

Have it tested for minerals as well as contamination. Should be about R1000 for both. Iron problems raise its ugly head much later. Even if it is inside the parameter I recommend hat you put a filter in place. My gas geyser bombed out because of this.

And a 1 micron filter system is a must. There is a place in Modderfontein close to Sandton where the prices are very reasonable.

How deep is your borehole?

Only 52 meters, first break at 12 meters .

It is a very good idea to have your borehole water tested. There can be heavy metals in there and other nasty things that you will not necessarily taste although taste is often a good indication.

I have my water tested at Yanka laboratories in Witbank.

They have a regular service picking up samples in Pretoria. Not that I am able to tell if this is going to be of assistance to you as I am struggling to find Adrift on the map.

Ask your local agricultural Koop, they can also send the sample for you.

R14700 including 6m eter casing. That excludes pumps, tanks ext

setpoint for full sans wanted like R1900 or something
M&L was R3000

i am trying to research if the complete SANS is required for water filteration analysing or can a limited test be done.

Yanka is much less. I am not sure exactly what they charge now. Probably still less than half of that.
