November 7, 2025Nov 7 Good morningMy parents are running 2x 8kva Kodak inverters. However, the one inverter keeps on giving a PV Overload error and then shuts off the inverter. Can anyone please recommend what could be causing this issue and how we would go about fixing it? Thank you.

I have not idea where to read or measure that. :-( This is the KODAK specs - I think page 9 is what we are looking for? This is the JA Solar Panel specs. Does this help?

Does this help?You are within spec on both the voltage and current, so I leave this to the others. I am not sure what else it could be. Is the inverter still under warranty? Could send the one in that is giving the issues and they still have the other to keep the house on solar.

If you measure the pv voltage when "Overload" it will at least eliminate that aspect if its something else. sometimes its just a loose connection.There is a specific calculation method to work out the Voc at low temps based on the panel temperature coefficient, it's unlikely to shoot upto 58v, especially in summer. The panel specs datasheet will have this info, 8 x panels in series should be fine on the voltage side. @Tiaan Vermeulen how many strings per inverter? Are there only 8 on one string on each inverter?
November 8, 2025Nov 8 In the manual there are two separate fault codes mentioned, check which one it is. 10 - PV over current11 - PV over voltageAlso suggest to install solar assistant and connect usb cables to each inverter, really worth it for troubleshooting. And the monitoring features is gold for these voltronic inverters.

November 9, 2025Nov 9 Plug this formula into an excel sheet and you have a VOC temp Coefficient converting tool.=A1 (1 + (A2/100) (A3 - 25))Where A1= Voc @25°C , B= Coefficient %/°C, C=(New VOC)50.28 * 1.09625 = 55.12 V x 8 = 440.96v@Tiaan Vermeulen your Voc @minus 10°C would be 440.96v for one 8S1P string. The problem is definitely not the VOC you might have a hardware problem on the one inverter Mppt.
