This is how I got my 8Kw Inverter to work flawlessly for the last two weeks.

I have two solar strings facing east and west, 1.6 kw each.

First switch off the Ac, than the PV and than the battery and lastly the inverter.

Plug is comms between the inverter and battery.

Let it sit for 10 minutes for capacitors to discharge.

Switch on only the battery and inverter.

Press settings and change as follows:

1.Ac Ouput. Mine is set to SOL but shouldn’t make a difference.

3. UPS

4. 46V

5. 54.8

6. SNU

7. 40A

8. USER

9. 56.8V Can go down to 56 if Error 64 persists.

Switch on Solar and then AC.

Fully charge battery and discharge battery to 15%. Optional but some say the inverter learns the battery capacity.

@Henrdrik , just quick feedback. Thanks for the settings, Error 64 completely gone.

what i did notice though is that with setting 8, if i change it to USE, after completing the changes, next to the battery icon on the main panel it changed from Li (which I presume means Lithium) to SLA (which is likely Sealed Lead acid Battery). I changed it to L16, and all seems to be well.

Under what setting number you changed it to L16, I did not see that.

Also note that I changed my battery back to Li16, Setting 8, back from from user, with all the other setting the same as I provided on the weekend and Error 64 did not come back again. YET

I have a 5kW Power4Less unit using the SmartESS app. Find the dessmonitor.com site useful.

How does one connect a CT clamp to monitor Grid usage? In the battery tab (SmartESS app), one can see day charging/discharging volume but not as a graph. On the monthly tab it shows graphs. Under the Grid tab nothing, but I suspect this as the CT clamp not being present?

Great, same here. No error 64 yet. However what I noticed is that the battery charge indicator on the inverter screen isn’t corresponding to the percentage SOC on the BMS screen. Yesterday the SOC was 20% on the bms screen, but the battery indicator on the inverter screen had 3 bars, suggesting the battery is still almost full. The other thing is my batttty drained to 4% with no alarm and didn’t changeover to Eskom. How do I solve this?

The SmartESS app did not show any load or grid for me either. The only way I got it to work was running through Modbus. I now have full load and grid details from my inverter.

Just make sure you are running the cable provided (RJ45) from the inverter to the battery. And set the comms protocol to 485 and BMS to PAC.Inverter to BMS.jpeg

Hello peeps.

I need assistance, I’ve gotten myself the 5kw. When my battery is 100% fully recharged the analog info on the BMS Screen shows, that the voltage is 52.8 and individual cell voltage is 3.3. Is this normal. Full charge voltage never reaches above that level.

Good day All,

I'm very glad I have stubbled upon this thread! I bought 2x 8kw Pwr4less batteries in November 2025, and have paired them with a Luxpower SN5000. It is working great, but seem to also have an issue where I can't accurately see my SOC on the batteries connected. I have been playing with the idea of upgrading my 5kw Inverter to the 8KW OmniVolt G2 Hybrid to increase output as well as increase capacity (24kw).

From the posts here it does seem that the solution with the Inverter is viable for use, but just want to make sure that everyone is happy with the setup and can accurately also see all the information via the App etc?

My SOC was displaying fine even though I didn’t have the comms cable connected. Both inverter and BMS displayed fine. Got the error 64 and had to do what the guys did here to fix it.

I connected my comms cable to inverter RS485-2 and the other to the battery RS485/CAN.

protocol is PAC and setting 32 is BMS (I have 5kW version so no 485 specific setting shows up). Now all 3 agree with each other on the SOC.

I don’t have any solar connected to mine. Just gets charged off my 3.6kW inverter and supplies only the kitchen in the house and the lounge. 3.6 only supplies during the day or when the load on the 2 breakers exceeds my overload relay setting at which point the 5kW takes over.

during the night the 3.6 supplies 3 of the house breakers (bedrooms and lights) while the 5kW supplies the other 2 higher power ones (kitchen and lounge).

overall happy with it. Only cost me 9k to buy.

Does anyone know if the Power4Less OmniVolt GII 8,0KW or 10KW is still being sold? I tried contacting the supplier via Email/Whatsapp and don't get any direct answers if they are still selling the devices.

Anyone that might have a contact or place that might have stock left, or lying around?
