May 2, 20197 yr Hi guys So I'm in the market for a new DMM, as I am still using quite an old and small Majortech DMM. Does anyone have experience with the Uni-T 216C at all? I am considering this one as it can measure AC and DC amps with the clamp, whereas the smaller 216B in the same range can only measure AC amps. My thoughts is obviously that with the solar side of things it would be nice to be able to measure DC amps. Budget is limited, so that is one of the reasons I'm not going for the Flukes etc. Cheers!

Reading a hall sensor and using a small MCU to drive an LCD is hardly rocket science these days. For the right price... I would buy this thing. It is not my day job, it's good enough. May 2, 20197 yr This is what I have: https://www.hellermanntyton.co.za/products/digital-multimeters/tbm867/911-00013 No clamp function though, but it is safe to use. I did not realize how dangerous an unsafe multimeter can be if you use it on the wrong mode with e.g. 220v.

May 2, 20197 yr Yes, I just saw - the price has gone up ever so slightly 😮 I think I bought it for around R2500 in 2015.

That's more the ballpark I'd be looking at. I'd probably take this one over the Uni-T (similar price, and I have some positive experiences with other RS-Pro stuff). Or if the budget stretches a bit more, this one.
