So are you saying the infini will keep on pushing power to the grid no matter what? What if the grid goes off ? Then it should shut off. I thought you could set it to push only when there is excess power.

 

You cannot connect a grid tie limiter to the infini - it does not support it - that simply means that the infini will push all available power to the grid, up to the maximum as configured in the software.

 

It will stop pushing to the grid when the grid fails.

 

It will only push excess power to the grid - the balance of the load and the battery charging power.

I also want to use the grid as a battery, But when loadshedding hits that battery is gone and then you do need batteries. So I need them. also 3Kw is too little for my personal needs, that is why I am keeping the 2 Axpers there as I need 8Kw and they do need batteries. If they bring out a 8Kw the all should be OK but until then I am thinking along these lines to make it work.

jdp, the 3kW is also too small for me but what I am considering it is to run the Infini as a pure grid tie inverter while keeping my Axpert. The Axpert will not have solar panels, will charge batteries using utility. But that utility power is generated by the grid tie inverter. When power failure takes place the Axpert continues to supply the house with power. The Axpert would simply be a power failure/load shedding backup. Infini would do all power generation and "store" it on the grid.

Some of us are stuck with pre-paid meters that does not allow us to feed back power to the grid.

Yup. Some meters trip if you feed back. Others bill you. My theory is that it depends on the decisions made in the software, that perhaps in some meters an unsigned integer is used for the current value and when it goes negative it wraps and becomes a very large positive number... registering an overload.

 

I remember when my son was born. Nurse comes in, straps some contraction-monitor device to my wife. I ask her what the numbers means, nurse says don't worry, 30 is still low... it goes up all the way to 127. So now I'm sitting there and I can't stop grinning because 127 actually tells me something about the internal implementation :-)

Cobus if the infini is to small for you how will it then carry all the load ? Sorry maybe I am missing something. That is why I still have the Axpert carrying the load and the infini just sends extra power to the grid and charges the battery.

 

Jaco, the load is not connected to the load, the output of the Infini is connected to the incomer (from MCB), that would be the grid tie feed to the network. The Infini will supply as much as it can generate.

Jaco, sorry for not explaining it well.

Yes, exactly like in your first drawing but without battery connection.

The AC connection is used to push the power generated by PV panels to the grid, actually to the DB but when demand is lower than production it will push back.
