Watt meter

Gerrie

Question

Hi All

I have a watt meter that is rated 0-60V/ 0-100A.

I would like to try it, just to measure battery voltage. Have any body used these before, or anyone know how to connect it to a 48V battery bank. The instructions is not very clear and I don't know if this unit also need its own power supply to switch on.

Any info would be appreciated.

one side says source, one side says load, to me that is how it looks like it should be connected. wires seem scrawny though to handle 100A @ 60V let alone 48V but I am no electrician.

Thanks Dex,

It only looks like 4mm2 thick wires. I don't trust 100Amp on this unit, but I think it will work just to show me battery voltage. I’ve just used source wires and no bang yet.😁

Display is also upside down🤣🤣🤣

xD - makes me wonder if the whole units internals are backwards now, that second vid he strips it, might be worth opening up and seeing if it is backwards xD

Yup, I think it's one of those extruded aluminium cases and the internals just slide in. It's probably inserted the wrong way round. That means the source and load indications are the wrong way round too.

I opened it up to see, unit was assembled the wrong way. It just slides in.

Correct, source and load was turned around too. I had my battery on load side first time and it worked,  I have turned it correct now and connected  the battery to source and now it is like it is supposed to be.
