Please can someone help. I am the least technical guy yo will ever meet and I urgently need someone to refer me to an expert who can assist me with checking/setting up my Axpert 4kw off-grid inverter.

The long story is that I bought this and had it installed (with batteries) some 4 years ago and it was worked wonderfully as far as I know. I have however now added some solar panels and want to program the inverter to use as much of the solar as possible all the time until I then go to the batteries and when they are done to go to Eskom. Can someone please provide me with a contact who would be willing (obviously I would pay) to come out and sort this out for me?

If your system has been working for 4 years, adding more PV should not need any setting changes, bar the max allowable solar charging, if this was less than what your batteries allows. Check the spec of your batts. Speaking of which,  depending on make, they could be shot a long time ago, or are hanging on by a thread. It's just the way Axperts are. 

Also make sure you do not exceed the mppt specs in terms of voltage and Wattage. It's on the sticker on the side of the unit. 

Speaking of solar, the inverter will use as much as the load is. So adding more PV doesn't  give more watts -  it will only do that if the load is present, i.e. Kettle, geysers etc.

In your case, it will only be beneficial early morning when the batteries needs charging, (if you are SBU - Solar first, then Bateries and Utility last) hence my reference to the max current (Amps).

Welcome SFG.

I am sure there might be guys willing to help, maybe you can tell us in witch area you stay so we can see if there is someone close to you. 

yeah pop your area for recommendations as well as what you currently have, i.e inverter model and batteries etc.
