You do that for a second time I'll personally come down to Cape Town and kick your butt. The hassle is now something else, perhaps more critical, will blow. Ed has probably made it bullet proof (or at least TTT proof) :D.

Amen brother - it is more robust but after careful inquiry into what if, I was sternly told that not only will you be down, but allegedly Ed too, with a pair of boots on that will make anyone think twice. ;)

I wonder if my Bosch, same as Plonksters, is also inverter

What are you guys on about? Inverter fridges? The technology we used since the 60s is the same, it's essentially a heat pump driven by an induction motor. The Bosch A++ unit simply has a very small induction motor, only 90 watts. Rule of thumb says start peak is around 5 times the nominal, so a 500W can easily start it. In addition, the Victron's can all do 200% of their nominal rating for about a second, so a 500VA inverter will start that thing without even a pre-alarm led flashing. The 210 liter Defy Eco model (A rated), which I also have, also has a 90W compressor, but start peak is a little higher than the Bosch. It flashes the pre-alarm red LED on the inverter when it starts, but that is WITH other loads. VRM says it spikes at around 600W, on top of a 200W use....

Also, TTT, re your moment of stupidity. I relayed the repair story to Matthijs (along with the uprated 25V caps in the repair), who said he will pass it on to the designer of that inverter.

Serias ... well blow me down. Is all @edmundp re. the new caps.

Tell Matthijs to also make the fuse user replaceable. See the pick New Fuse :P
And BH connectors, for even better safety, as they are moveable. :D

VERY happy to hear re the Defy 210l! Forgot to get one today, will do it tomorrow.

I am going to run it off the 350VA inverter to check.

Ok, it seems my Bosch fridge can run off the 350VA little inverter. Inverter LED red, always green.

Question: How would one test that all is ok?

If no alarms are going off...then it is ok. Doesn't surprise me, that fridge has a 90W compressor. Normal rule says it spikes 5 times that when it turns on, so just under 500W. Victron inverters, as a rule, can do twice nominal for about a second, so the 350 will start a 700W peak. I would expect the red alarm LED -- if it has one -- to light up at least momentarily at startup.

Right, then it is fridge and lights tonight on the little inverter.

Using 4 x 100ah 2nd hand maintenance free UPS batts, got them free, charged by 100/30 controller from 2 x 200w panels, all 12v. ;)

Will see with the BMV600 and SolWEB how this 400ah old bank works tonight.

Once they go then it is those 2 x Trojans from you @plonkster. thereafter I need a source of 2nd hand batts.

Have had them Trojans on a charger that allegedly can desulphate batts.
