Outdoor LED Solar lighting

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

Looking for 6w outdoor solar IP65 LED lights that work on day/night sensor. I can only seem to find ones that work via PIR.

Any suggestions/manufactures

I haven't seen LED lamps with built in day/night sensors, but it here in Johannesburg you get standalone sensors that can be used to control LED lights. I've done this at home, and I'm no electrican. They are encased in little tubes, which means you can aim them in a specific direction. You need to take care they don't pick up reflected light or another light otherwise they will endless cycle on and off.

The tube is maybe 5mm in diameter, so if you're handy you can drill holes in the light housing and mount the sensor in that housing, with the just the tip of the tube protruding (or even  flush with the housing) and held in place with a dab of silicon.

I know it's bit late but look at this outdoor light, it's got build in day-night switch. Some of them do not but uses PV as a day-night switch.

I build a couple of them myself and working 100%. Got 13 off them DIY jobs on my premises and works brilliantly. Specially during load shedding. Every dark spot on my premises lit up. Last right through the night.
