  1. Quite decent specs for this battery 1C Charge/Discharge for the 100AH Although 0.66C Charge/discharge for the 150AH 6000 cycles at 80 - 85% D.O.D - remaining 80% Capacity 10 Year Warranty Not sure which battery is in the competition though as there is conflicting info: 1. The competition "Magneto_Email_EnterandWin" document displays the 51.2V 150Ah 7.6KWh battery. 2. The Poweforum 29 January topic "Hey Everyone so to give you an Update on the Giveaway the Awesome People at Magneto Energy has confirmed that they will be giving us a BRAND NEW MAGNETO Lithium-LiFePo4 Wall Mount 48V 7.6KWh Battery for the lucky draw battery review giveaway!!"" 3. However, the review is on the 51.2V 100Ah 5.12KWh Battery. Either way, winning this would be great.
  2. Thanks, of course ... (forehead slap), I deselected grid charge because of all the Eksdom 16h00-18h00 load shedding and then not wanting to consume unnecessary grid energy afterwards, trying recharge in a short time, before I start the run through the evening. Sunsynk suggested changing System Mode charge priority to "Battery First", instead of "Load First", but that defeated the object of PV serving the load first and then charging with the difference. (Those early mornings or cloudy days). A thought for Sunsynk though, they could consider a "trickle charge" on the batteries to maintain 100% SOC when PV is low. (I guess that comes with other ramifications)
  3. Hello Everyone Apologies if I have posted this on the wrong forum. Has anyone experienced this issue with their Sunsynk 5.5KW? There seems to be a situation in which there is a battery trickle discharge occurring (+/- 25W) when PV is low (evening) and the grid is available, even though the SOC in system mode is set to remain at 100%. This results in a few percent battery discharge before the actual discharge cycle is meant to begin later. Below pic is an example: System Mode is set to Battery SOC of 100% till 19h30 (no grid charge), but there has been a discharge from the battery happening from about 18h00, which has taken the SOC from 100 down to 98% Anyone experienced this and resolved it? Thanks in advance.
  4. I think the 8KW Sunsynk is a two MPPT inverter allowing 2x strings in parallel on each MPPT, but the specs are for the combined values of the strings on each MPPT and not for each string independently on an MPPT. (If this makes sense) My five cents worth: On both strings you will probably be borderline too high on PV input current and PV Short circuit current of the inverter at 22amp and 28amp respectively. The 550W PV's are around 13amp Imp/A and 14amp Isc/A. Thus, you could expect 26amp Imp/A and 28amp Isc/A when the PV strings are in parallel. (Ideal conditions) String 3+4 PV Voltage would probably be too low for effective MPPT voltage range of 150Vdc - 400 Vdc. The 550W PV's are around 49.9 Voc/V and 41.96 Vmp/V. Multiply by three would be marginal too low for MPPT's to run effectively. Would you roof allow you to do 2x strings of 7x PV's each instead? Connected on each MPPT would put you well in operational specs. Regards
  5. Correct me where I am wrong. If I understand correctly, the Pylontech's can mix, so you could have paralleled it with a UP5000. You would just make the UP5000 the master.
  6. Item: 43U high (+/- 2000mm), Steel 1200mm deep x 600mm wide Rack mount cabinet. Poster mounts in cabinet. Fans in rear door. Side doors open. Price: R5000 Payment Method Accepted: Cash/EFT (confirmed) Condition: Very Good Location: Centurion Reason: No need for it anymore. Collection: Will need to collect with a trailer or bakkie. It is large and heavy
  7. Hi Everyone Could I chime in on this conversation and ask regarding after sales support experiences of different brands? This may also help Nick M with deciding. I have recently had a SunSynk sent in for repairs directly at Sunsynk and have been told outright that it takes 3 weeks for repair. No negotiating. How do other brands do in this regard? Thanks in advance.
  8. Good Day All My apologies if I am posting something already discussed or have placed this in the wrong forum. i am a noob. Is it possible to use BMS 485 between Pylontech UP5000 and Sunsynk 5KW inverter? The CAN bus port on the Sunsynk has been physically damaged and whilst we wait for feedback from the supplier I was wondering if the BMS could be setup using 485 instead. If so, could I assited/pointed/kicked in the right direction? Thanks in advance.
  9. According to the following link there are differences Recommended max discharge current and expected cycles life.
  10. I apologize if I am posting something discussed already or if I have posted in the wrong place. My config is a 5KW Sunsynk with 4x 100ah AGM batteries to be used as a standalone UPS for load shedding. CT is coupled. Load will only be around 500W. This will be like this till roof repairs are done, after which a full install with panels will be done by an installer. Some things are confusing. Why is there about 80W grid consumption above actual load, all the time? Why is grid trickle feed happening if unit is a "UPS"? No matter what the "grid trickle" setting is set to the unit has a 20W trickle I have setup a bench test scenario with a 125W load connected to load output, but the measured AC supply load is 203W (measured with inline watt meter and confirmed by CT transformer showing 203W). The usage appears to be as follows: 125W actual load 20W trickle (why?) 37W battery charging all the time. (Although Batteries are 100% for a few days now) 21W unknown Firmware = COMM:e424 MCU: 3373 Timer settings = off. Zero Export = on. Limit to load only = on. Priority Load = off. Grid trickle feed = 10W Thanks in advance for any advice.
  11. Does anyone know if Solar Boks (Pty) (solar-boks.co.za) is legit? They have a special that seems "too good to be true" The domain creation date of 2021/03/22 12:04:58 raises alarm bells, especially since their sales guy claims they have been in business 7 years. CIPS has no company registered as Solar Boks (Pty) The same special can be found on http://brightsunsolar.co.za/ and this domain creation date is 2021/05/27 12:34:19 In the write up of the batteries on both sites there is reference to SolarCity RSA - ""you have a 10 year exchange warranty exclusive to SolarCity RSA and our 12+ years of experience in the solar PV industry ""
