Saga continues. 1 of my batteries was sent in for diagnosis. The single battery that I'm running on is now doing the same thing.

Thanks for posting your experiences! I too am an unfortunate user of 5100s batteries (the Raystech variant) and my saga with 40% to 0% soc drop is ongoing. Absolute run around from CFE support. They've got me debugging all sorts of stuff to "prove" that it is in fact the battery that is trash.

Good point. CFE also recommends similar in the manual. (Refers to voltage difference but implies SoC I guess).

@Jason5 Get CFE to update your firmware to at least let them only cycle between 95 and 100. Verdict. Who knows. Some people are okay with it, some aren't.

Have a read https://www.solarquotes.com.au/blog/an-eastwest-spit-of-solar-panels-on-a-single-string-can-work-well/ The conclusion is basically that, yes it can be done effectively in very specific scenarios. What do you mean by that? Like, do you get way less power than the total that is facing the sun directly?

Sounds like it's a normal voltage drop that's caused by load that the inverter reads as decreased SoC. Getting a perfectly accurate SoC reading from lithium batteries using voltage alone is near impossible.

@GrantCPT When the batteries drop to 1%, do you check on the app what each individual SoC is? In my case, the batteries were waaay out of sync. Something like 65% and 35% Regarding Battery SOH, the only place I can see that is on the Inverter LiBMS screen.

@PieterO My installer had stock of the batteries and they did the swap out for me, last I heard they were still trying to get Raystech to actually swap them on their side.

@GrantCPT Yes, with my first batch, I had a case of 51% -> 1% during load shedding - the difference being that one of my 2 batteries then refused to charge entirely and got stuck in an on off loop. Here's the thread I made about it, with the resolution - Spoiler - they were replaced.

I've never considered comparing the SoC drop vs reported kWh until now. So this morning I had a look. 2x 5100S batteries, 10.2 kWh capacity. Timeframe: 12am to 5am SoC went from 70% to 56% kWh used in time frame was 0.3 per hour x 5 hours, so 1.5kWh total. 14% of 10.2 is roughly 1.45kWh. so the SoC drop matches the kWh consumed.

Yeah - what happened on my side was that SolarAssistant totally stopped publishing after the update. A full system reboot of HA solved it (Not a 'Restart' but 'Reboot' in System > "off button" > Advanced > "Reboot"

Another addition: New firmware for CFE and Raystech makes that they cycle down to below 95% before charging to 100% again. Not perfect, but I would still go as far as to say that they have false marketing in that they do not disclose this behaviour anywhere, and it's up to the end customer to find out on their own. Review still stands. Not good. Deceptive marketing

Installer, but they have been helpful enough IMO and are not selling those batteries anymore after a few customers not being happy with the performance
