Used AGM batteries
Good day everyone, I need some advice. I have a set of 4 x Ritar RA12-260 batteries hanging around. they are 10% used. For the last 2 years, I did not connect them and I did not maintain them. They might be 100% ok but I didn't test them or tried to charge or discharge them. my feeling is that they might be ok. Does anyone know who buys used batteries for recycling. Thank you

Goodwe blue inverter support
Does it have an WiFi card on it? Most probably your inverter has available a firmware upgrade as well. The best thing is to contact Goodwe, they are very helpful. You have to give them the serial number of your inverter and they would be able to help.

New House Wiring?
Now on a serious note, thank you Elbow for the suggestion. I will mark the kill switch properly. Actually there is one, the changeover switch in the generator position switches off the power to the house. The generator has to be connected manually if needed. I also have to change the name on some changeover switches, the inverter position is actually for inverter backup circuits which was for the Axpert but now not needed with the grid tie inverter. In case of load shedding I have to activate the backup circuits on the inverter manually.

New House Wiring?
I got a COC but the CTN people live in another country so for the other country I would have to add an extra Switch. For the country I live in I just have to mark the middle position of a change over switch as All Off

New House Wiring?
For my install to materialise it took the knowledge and kindness of Jacques Schickerling who answered all my questions and a months of planning, then gettiung the parts, making the boards another 2 weeks. The installation took me 3 days, the hardest part was to transfer the back-up circuits from the old DB. The parts are not cheap but worth it because now I can install any inverter in less than 2 hours. You never know when trouble strikes. In my case the loong direct lightning strike on my roof, I had an ark on the roof for more than 7 seconds, flames and sparks everywhere, inverter completely fried also all my 12 x PVs damaged. It took me less than a minute to bypass the inverter and less than 2 hours to install the new inverter.

New House Wiring?
Not if you have a flexible install like this. I started with Axpert and upgraded to Goodwe after a bad lightening strike.

Where is grid tie legal?
Hi Pilotfish They don't make it easy. I guess your choice is the best option.

Where is grid tie legal?
Hi SilverNodashi, Are you sure? I querried in Benoni and they told me export to grid is illegal

Hi Jaco, where did you find the Goodwe 5.4KW for extra 10 K? Do you mean 16k + 10K?

Panel Earthing
Hello guys, My nightmare ended. The insurance paid but partially. I advise all of you with solar power systems to contact your insurance asap. In my case it turned out I was underinsured. I always had the impression that the buildings should be covered for the market value like a car but I was wrong. A house has to be insured for the replacement value. Also be sure you have contents cover which is not for theft as I thought but for replacement of contents if they get damaged by lightning for example. It is good to ask your insurance to send someone to check if you are properly covered. Cheers Virgil

New Axpert model from Voltronic?
If Pi3 has WiFi then I guess I will be ok. thanks guys. Now busy trying to find out if my warranty will be ok if I will paint the shell on a new Infini V. JDP, when can I buy the Pi application for Infini V from you?

Thanks JDP, I will contact them. Manie, I do not understand. What do you mean?

New Axpert model from Voltronic?
Hi JDP, can you tell me where I can buy from a Pi and maybe a small touch screen for it? I hope you will port the V series to the Pi. Yes SilverNodashi I had surge arresters in the combiner box as I also had fuses on plus and minus of each string, also a DC 40A circuit breaker on the DC supply to the inverter. Unfortunately it was a direct strike which lasted for several seconds. All in the combiner box blown and the box exploded. I also had the best earthing (a network of several rectangular copper bars buried deep in the backyard. Bottom line is: nothing will survive a direct strike. My wife wanted me out because she thought the house was on fire, I did not dare to see if I will survive.

So where do we get the green one from?

New Axpert model from Voltronic?
Thanks, good to know. I suppose you have the raspberry pi to run the app. Where did you get it from? Do you know of a shop who has the original Voltronic Infini V? I hate the black color.

New Axpert model from Voltronic?
Thanks Superdiy, I need higher power for longer so I guess a better option for me will be Infini V, 4kw or 5kw which can be connected in parallel

New Axpert model from Voltronic?
Hi JDP, I have a 260A, 48 V battery bank which survived the lightning. Jaco, if your inverter combines power sources and can be programmed not to export power then it is the best option. Can you connect 2 in parallel? What limitations does it have? Does AICC software work well with the V series? Where did you buy yours from?

New Axpert model from Voltronic?
Hi JDP, I do not want to get into complications with feeding back power to the grid. Also, I have prepaid and my meter does not accept feedback and I do not intend to change it. All I want to do is to be able to use more solar power in case the need is higher than solar. The Axpert did not combine grid with solar so now I need to be able to use part grid when needed. I would need at least 4KW. The Imeon can give you 6 KW continuously but it has trade offs like the inverter part being only 3KW, the Axpert is better than that. Not that I have more PV power available, I had only 3.6 KW (12 x 300W Yingli panels) which now I have to replace after the lightning damage. Will you be able to program the Goodwe not to export power to the grid? The best price I got for this is R39,400.00 VAT incl.from the powerstore but it is a Reneplus not a Goodwe, I was told it is the same inverter. Right now I have to decide between Imeon 3.6 and Goodwe. For me the Imeon is tempting because gives 3kw when needed during the day. I do not need it to be water proof and a bit of noise is not problem as it will be installed in an empty room in the house.

What is the price for the infini 3kw plus? Do you know where I can buy it from here in Joburg?
